well I dont know the true issue, is there no way to exclude eboostr from shadow defender? Also, are you sure it is Sahdow Defender? If your computer shutsdown wrong, eboostr will pause it self on the next reboot.

Sorry for bumping this but I have the same problem using eBoostr with Shadow Defender. Every time I restart my PC, eBoostr is in pause and I manually restart it always. Is there any solution to automatically start it in shadow mode after every reboot?

Using eBoostr 4 and Windows 7 Pro 32x

Thank you..

Hi, this isn't exactly a bug, but is a bit misleading. When you run the speed test, the hit ratio starts to climb. Surely this indicator is only meant to measure the proportion of cache to disk hits you're getting when you're actually using your computer for stuff not testing out eboostr? Just a thought ;)

Hi cuverin, I tested this configuration (eBoostr within the ramdrive) in my xp 32bit - QSoft ramdrive - and this problem did not appear here. But eBoostr was a little slower in the ramdrive than directly in memory (maybe is drivers war zone!! :). att art

Under Control Panel-> Admin Tools -> Services look for eboostr service, change its auto to delay start up. This way eboostr will start later, letting your ram drive start frist before eboostr. I hope this helps.

I am using 64bit windows 7 with 6G of memory, superspeed ramdisk plus, and eboostr.
I assigned 1.5G of ramdisk made by superspeed ramdisk and use 500mb of the for temporary internet files and 1G for eboostr cache.
Although this is not recommended way of using eboostr but I wanted this because I wanted to make the number of direct access to memory as small as possible.
When I reboot the computer, sometimes eboostr seems to start earlier than ramdisk appeared on the system and then eboostr ended up with no cache file.
I can understand the case and don't mind if I need to create cache file whenever I reboot the machine, but the problem is that this happens not always which means order of eboostr or ramdisk sometimes switched.
I don't think it is a big problem nor it is your fault, but I just wanted to let you know that this kind of missing eboostr cache file happens when used with ramdisk softwares.
Thank you

Now, your point is very clear and I appreciate your sincere response to two Japanese's supportive comments. You write very clear and good English (I might not be in a position to say this....). I am glad to see this kind of logical comment provided by Japanese folks and proud of it. Nevertheless, personally, I do not like the word of "Ejection" because I believe it would not fit the circumstance today. The word of "Ejection" started in the time of "floppy diskette" back in the late of 1980. Though, it is still applicable to CD drive now. For me, it is regarded as one of the legacy word. For some reasons, however, the word is still being used against regardless of target device such as USB flash memory. Is it proper to use "Ejection" for RAM or USB flash memory, is what I think. Honesty speaking, I do not like the many words that Microsoft started to use, especially their translation into the Japanese. The most of them does not make sense ..... I think we (I mean you, flash100, and myself) could make a good friendship because I feel somewhat we are similar ..... [Bunji94 from Japan]

Thank you for the comment.

When this topic was made, the explanation might have been insufficient.
"削除する" it the word is the same word as "削除" button at the right of the control panel screen. However, these two functions are different.

The operation of the matter that I pointed out is similar to the function of "Safely Remove Hardware" icon that exists in "Notification Area". Therefore, I proposed "取り外す". If other appropriate words suitable for the function exist, I will agree.

It is a result that makes the language of the control panel English as for ("Eject" in English), and there is no ulterior motive.

I have a recommendation to the eBoostr developer team that there should be a removal confirmation pop-up.

I also have the same experience. I agree.

@flash1000:
Thank you for supplementing the insufficient explanation.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid you must be having a hard time understanding my poor English.
Thanks.

By the way, I have a recommendation to the eBoostr developer team that there should be a removal confirmation pop-up. Today, I inadvertently did hit the "Removal" tab when I was checking the control panel to examine the point-out by “shigy21” . Wwhatever the word is, "removal", "detach", or "eject", it is extremely important to confirm the action of inactivation of the devise by some pop-up screen. Otherwise, it is easily taken off from the eBoostr, which is not apparently customer-friendly. Please think about it. [Bunji94 from Japan]

Well I am also a Japanese user.
I have verified the Japanese menu text that shigy21 concerns, and I strongly agree with it.
The right-click context menu of “Eject” (at the graphical device listing at the bottom of control panel) is enabled when the cache device is connected on USB port. By executing the “Eject” or “削除する(J)”, it “ejects” the selected USB device from the PC, which is the same function with the Windows’ USB task tray icon (Safely remove the hardware [ from PC]).
This behavior is clearly different from the action of just removing the selected device from eBoostr cache device listing. Therefore, I assume that English menu says “Eject”, instead of “Remove”.
Shigy21’s translation of “Eject” as “取り外す” is accurate, and worth to consider the correction.

■I sustain “shigy21” regarding unfavorable translation of “Removal” into Japanese word. It will make more sense if the word of “Removal” is translated into Japanese as “デバイスの解除” which simply means “Detach device". As “shigy21” pointed out, the current translation of word indicated on the control panel is not of customer-friendly and may cause some misreading by new Japanese user.　■On the other hand, I have a different opinion against what “shigy21” expressed in English such as “("Eject" in English)”, since “Eject” appears to be unsuitable expression for the purpose. As a matter of fact, Ver 4 has been released in Japan since 19 Mar 2010. For that, translation correction to more favorable Japanese word would be made in a future minor version up, if any.

I've just removed all my cache drives to start again and noticed that I can only select my main hardrive C: for the Cache file location for the system memory. I have 2 hard drives in this system and wanted to put put the cache file on D: as I'm pretty sure this would be faster on startup/shutdown as almost nothing would be reading/writting to D: at this time.

Sometimes I have some COM related error that requires me to kill all instances of explorer and restart the last one. When I do this eBoostr's Control Panel icon disappears from system tray even though the process continues to run. It comes back when I restart it. Not a big deal, but thought I'd mention it.

Setup: HP Laptop with 1.8GHz CPU and 4GB RAM. 32-bit Windows XP Pro with SP3. eBoostr set to use 1 GB of RAM that 32-bit Windows cannot manage.

I have to rebuild cache after I reboot with shadow defender (at least when I choose to drop changes) even though I have eboostr excluded. Not a big deal. Same thing as with some registry defrags.

Same here. Also happens if run system in Virtual Mode e.g. using ShadowDefender (or Returnil iirc) and after reboot. Not a big issue i'd prefer that it would automatically rebuild the cache if it's set to auto-start with windows.

Works fine for me. However, I remember I had to add /pae at the end of boot.ini for the main system. For example:

[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /pae

I originally had to add it to use SuperSpeed RamDisk, then I switched to eBoostr (for hidden mem) and it worked fine, then something removed the /pae option from boot.ini (I suspect a ShadowProtect restore, but couldn't replicate the problem so...). With /pae option gone, eBoostr stopped using the hidden memory, except I didn't notice it at first because it switched to using non-hidden memory. When I did notice, I tried to rebuild the cache using hidden memory, but eBoostr failed to do so until I added the /pae option to boot.ini.
