Hi, this isn't exactly a bug, but is a bit misleading. When you run the speed test, the hit ratio starts to climb. Surely this indicator is only meant to measure the proportion of cache to disk hits you're getting when you're actually using your computer for stuff not testing out eboostr? Just a thought ;)

I am using 64bit windows 7 with 6G of memory, superspeed ramdisk plus, and eboostr.
I assigned 1.5G of ramdisk made by superspeed ramdisk and use 500mb of the for temporary internet files and 1G for eboostr cache.
Although this is not recommended way of using eboostr but I wanted this because I wanted to make the number of direct access to memory as small as possible.
When I reboot the computer, sometimes eboostr seems to start earlier than ramdisk appeared on the system and then eboostr ended up with no cache file.
I can understand the case and don't mind if I need to create cache file whenever I reboot the machine, but the problem is that this happens not always which means order of eboostr or ramdisk sometimes switched.
I don't think it is a big problem nor it is your fault, but I just wanted to let you know that this kind of missing eboostr cache file happens when used with ramdisk softwares.
Thank you

When I log off of windows with eBoostr running with cache settings in RAMDisk and USB Flash drives, upon restart both disks are shown as full to the max and inaccessible and unavailable to eBoostr or any other system app until I format them again.

I have shown that by disabling eBoostr prior to restarting can prevent this, but is inconvenient.

Please forgive the use of Japanese for convenience' sake.
A Japanese translation of the control panel seems to be wrong.
1.Select the device.
2.Display the context menu by right-clicking.
Here, I think that "削除する" is a mistake, and "取り外す"("Eject" in English) is appropriate.

I've just removed all my cache drives to start again and noticed that I can only select my main hardrive C: for the Cache file location for the system memory. I have 2 hard drives in this system and wanted to put put the cache file on D: as I'm pretty sure this would be faster on startup/shutdown as almost nothing would be reading/writting to D: at this time.

Installed 2x2 GB RAM, in addition to existing 2x1 GB RAM, for a total of 6141 MB (same brand, speed, timings). eBoostr reports *8184* MB available of 6141 MB total. However, it also reports 2559 MB unmanaged, which is accurate, and it seems to be using this memory without any issue (gets a 58.5 ratio).

Sometimes I have some COM related error that requires me to kill all instances of explorer and restart the last one. When I do this eBoostr's Control Panel icon disappears from system tray even though the process continues to run. It comes back when I restart it. Not a big deal, but thought I'd mention it.

Setup: HP Laptop with 1.8GHz CPU and 4GB RAM. 32-bit Windows XP Pro with SP3. eBoostr set to use 1 GB of RAM that 32-bit Windows cannot manage.

Okay, Firstly, Im liking this eBoostr, Its easy to use, and my Hard drive has finally stopped running for once.

I have a computer with
40GB SeaGate 4200RPM
256MB DDR RAM
1.4GHz Celeron M

And im running Windows 7 Ultimate RC 32-Bit.

Anyways, When Im in the Control Panel, the "Build Cache Now" Button, instead of having a lovely blue to white fade effect, has random blue stutters in it, All the other buttons have the nice blue fade effect working nicely.

Theres one bug

The other:

The jump list when my Control Panel is not pinned, closes the Control Panel. So when I drag up the icon, it will close the whole thing and minimize it to the taskbar tray...

Pretty annoying, but just some little bugs I found, Anyways, Have fun :)

Hello,
Cache seems not to become a hit after it wake up from standby by the following equipment compositions.
On the control panel, the state of the device looks normal. However, it is felt that it differs from the behavior of a usual cache hit.
It seems to begin to open the cache drive by the Explorer and to become a hit cache.

Hi,
I have no other issues under Win7 x64 or x86.
I noticed under x64, can't try udner x85, that eBoostr Control Panel always open on 2nd monitor.
I'm using the "Physx mod patch", so the desktop is extended to 2nd monitor, but there's no monitor connected.
That's not an issue usually, I can move the app windows using WinKey+Alt+Left or Right, but it doesn't work with eBoostr CP so it's stuck on the second monitor. Maybe it's related to mixing an ATI+NVidia display but I can't test it right now.
Somebody else with a multimonitor setup can try it and give feedback?

The Advanced memory Cache is always labeled with a yellow warning sign, but my other 4 devices are marked as working. This has nothing to do with the unmanaged ram, because even if its disabled it wont work. I´m using build 545 on a Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit (German) with 4 GB Ram, 3 USB Flash Drives and one external 1TB hard drive. The AV Software is Kaspersky Internet Security 9.0.0.736. The system is a HP Pavilion dv6810eg Notebook. what should i do to solve this issue? Id had worked before and I don´t want to throw away 863MB of unmanaged Ram.

I am using the latest build of eBoostr beta. I seem to have few, if any issues, with hypermemory cards, XP 32-bit, XP 64-bit, and Vista 32-bit.

This version, for me, seems highly stable in my scenarios, including 3Ware RAID cards, Marvell, J-Micron, and Sil controllers, as well as SuperSpeed RAM Drives and RAID 0 4-drive SSD arrays. I've tried to break it, goof it up, drop drives between boots, you name it. Worst case, I have to rebuild the cache. Speeds seem to be reporting correctly now was well.

Just an FWIW.

I have eBoostr installed on a Win 7 64-bit OS, 6GB RAM. I have an older 4-drive RAID SSD Array. When I run ATTO on it, starting at 16KB I get read speeds of 92MB/sec on up to as high 494MB/sec at 8192K transfer size, yet eBoostr reports only 56MB/sec transfer rate, which is just plain wrong. Even a single SSD drive from that array could kick out a sustained read of over 100MB/sec.

What is going on? Is eBoostr using a very small block size in it's testing? I also have an Acard RAM drive that is being reported at 115MB/sec., yet I can easily get 220+ MB/sec sustained reads when transferring digital video files between in and a Gigabyte iRam Drive, so I know it's way faster than eBoostr is reporting. It's also saying the iRam drive is about 50-70MB/sec slower than I can read from it with other files.

It seems this latest iteration of eBoostr is failing to take advantage of what my RAM drive and SSD RAID 0 array can offer, at least relative to ATTO and my anecdotal testing of read speeds. Even if Eboostr is using tiny files, a RAM drive should not care less, even if an SSD array did due to flash block size, etc.

Any thoughts?

How exactly does eBoost compute read/transfer speeds when it reports them? It's certainly not taking advantage of what my drives can offer.

So this is my first time posting on this forum for an amazing program called eBoostr. I'm on a Vista Ultimate 32bit with latest service pack.

My first time encountering a bug in the beta, the Cache Fill for both external and internal HDD displays a very long percentage.. for example in one of the HDD that has an allocated size of 15gigs it shows a cache fill of 1145324558% and the other HDD has also the same percentage problem. I removed the HDD from the program and deleted the EBOOSTR folders on both of them and still the problem persists.

I don't want to uninstall and reinstall because of losing the settings, like excluded list and applications priority list.. is there a way of backing up this info before I try to reinstall?

thank you and I appreciate this program as it has changed my experience with my toshiba qosmio, I am very much considering in buying a copy of this great program too.

feedback is much appreciated!

OK, not a bug or anything against eBoostr. I have used ATI 4650 and 4670 HyperMemory PCIe x16 2.0 cards (512MB and 1GB onboard, respectively) on a 6GB installed memory, 32-bit XP Pro SP3 test system to check on accessing and using unmanaged memory with eBoostr.

My Asus P5Q-E allows BIOS remapping above the 4GB limit for graphics cards. I suggest turning this off as eBoostr and any HyperMemory card seem to fight for that memory, the net result being ATI usually loses, and then in a dual-screen situation you end up without enough memory for your ATI card and it kicks your resolution down. I also enabled the 15MB Graphics Hole, but I'm thinking it more has to do with the memory remapping feature as I can reproduce the issue at will that way. My guess is this would not happen if you are just running a single monitor.

Again, not any problem with eBoostr. I need the HyperMemory cards for their low power draw. I'm not a gamer, but use my cards for business and Blu-Ray and such, otherwise I would just use a 2-slot version with enough memory onboard and/or a card with a 4 or 6 pin aux. power connector. I have an HTPC system using a 4670 2-slot solution. It is not a HyperMemory product and eBoostr has no issues accessing unmanaged memory on that system, which runs 32-bit Vista.

If it is enabled, Version 4.0.0.543 makes my system crash after logging in. On next boot (thankfully) it is disabled. Then it will make vista crash within 3 hours after enabling it. I had far fewer crashes with older versions.

At least it works great on my netbook.

Hi,

after testing eBoostr speed check on microsoft powerpoint 2007 for 500 (yup, five hundred) times,
I've noticed an error in the weight; it displays nevative value
(-239449600)

When i try to sort the values, it correctly goes to the top of the list,
so I guess it only a display error.

Someone has already asked this on the blog, but I had a few suggestions, because it is not as simple as assuming files stay disappeared.

eboostr should be made to remove deleted files from the memory cache every few days or does this all happen already?

If the deleted file is in a flash cache it should clean it only if the flash cache is full, but check way more slowly... every few weeks.

Maybe give non-disk-0 drives even less cache cleaning priority in case of mounted file-systems and removable disks.
