@goose, thank you. Developers are working on this issue--we've managed to reproduce it here.

@deroby, the problem that eBoostr is locking up during detection and that is wrong even if you have 1 GB only installed.

Regardless of the OS you're using, isn't the "Use Hidden Memory" option supposed to enable you to work around the 32-bit limitations involved in RAM allocation ?
=> If you "only" have 2Gb RAM in your system, it should be available 100% for the OS and there simply would be no 'hidden memory" left to be used by eBoostr (or whatever exotic program), if you'd have 4Gb or more, THEN you'd might have some use for that option.

update: seems MS can do what it wants : http://apcmag.com/microsoft_hobbles_xp_mininotes_with_1gb_ram_limit.htm
However, as this now shifts from a 'hardware' issue to a 'software' issue, I have my doubts that eBoostr can work around this using the logic used for Hidden Memory.

Every time I throw this switch, the app locks up, and runs both threads on the CPU at about 50%. I've let this go for hours, hoping it's just a buggy user interface and a high effort search, but alas . . .

This is a Toshiba NB205, which is to say an Atom N280, and 2Gb of 667mHz memory.

Idk, maybe try it out your self? Either it's unlimited or 4gb ram for system and 4gb cache is the max of most programs/ramdisk can usally do. I think its unlimied, but I could always be wrong :) Actully the max is how much your motherboard can even handle.

Using Beta 4.0 Build 544 in XP Pro SP3.

Installed 2x2 GB RAM, in addition to existing 2x1 GB RAM, for a total of 6141 MB (same brand, speed, timings). eBoostr reports *8184* MB available of 6141 MB total. However, it also reports 2559 MB unmanaged, which is accurate, and it seems to be using this memory without any issue (gets a 58.5 ratio).

Does beta 4 support hibernation when using "hidden memory" above 3.5 GB on 32-bit OSes???

32-bit windows restore only "visible" part of memory, so cache must be saved to disk before hibernating or just flushed.

Have tried build 539. Got the same - invalid Memory Size values in Control Panel and BSOD 0x0000008E in win32k.sys. Memory dump is not saved, BSOD frozen on "Initializing disk...". When rebooted I see all two of my RAID arrays broken. I suppose that Memory Dump save routine in kernel occasionally did it.

I have rebuilt both RAIDs with no information loss and recovered the system now.

To developers:
Can you please maintain all old settings and cache file while configuring new setup in Control Panel, pressing "OK", and trying new setup? And replace old cache and settings ONLY if all new settings applied successfully? Or implement something like "Test new settings" button? This will save users from my kind of endless boot loops.

I am using 6G of ram with windows7 x86 retail version which means I have 2.8G of unmanaged memory that can be used as cache memory. Having 2.8G of system cache memory is really nice but I want more. I'd like to use some area of this unused memory for caching temporary internet files for web browing. Therefore I installed superspeed ramdisk 10 for create physical drive from ramdisk and assigned 800mb of space for temporary internet files and rest of 2G space for eboostr cache. Overall system performance seems even but the speed of web surfing is distinctively faster than using eboostr alone. If eboostr can have physical drive letter and can caching temporary internet files, performance that users would feel will be enormously improved. Moreover, if eboostr can pull internet cache files from all other kinds of webbrowser such as firefox and google chrome which are not using temporary internet files of internet explorer, it would be even nicer.

In case your computer will hang again, please boot into "Safe mode" and delete the hidden folder "EBOOSTR" located on the system drive (it contains the RAM cache file), this will prevent infinite boot loop.

Same problem with build 536.

Windows 7 Ultimate (6.1.7600) 32-bit
eBoostr 4.0 build 536
ASUS P4C800 Deluxe
DDR 4x1Gb

Info in "Configure Devices" says:
"794 MB available of 3069 MB total" -- that's right

When "Enable use of hidden system memory" checkbox is ticked, information changed to:
"61958 MB available of 64253 MB total (61184 MB unmanaged)" -- this is pretty wrong

Pressing "OK" caused computer to freeze totally (mouse cursor is not moving). Since reset, computer does not boot normally, falling to infinite boot loop. Only workaround is System Restore or renaming/deleting %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\eBoost.sys

Maybe something like "Test" button would be pretty useful so user will have a chance to test new settings with no fear to screw up his entire system.

P. S. Fell free to contact me. I'm glad to do some tests for you. And I'm handy enough with windbg.
