[Conflict between Google Japanese IME and eBoostr most likely resolved, as far as I tested RC (Build 553]

■ [Overall] I've been participated in testing eBoostr Ver 4 Beta since Build 529. In my cases of each Beta Build testing, eBoostr Ver 4's performance was very good and I did not encounter any problems except two cases - 1) Build 538: Wins Sys 32 blue screen when using Kingston Data Traveler 2GB USB flash memory, and 2) Build 547: Conflict with Google Japanese IME, unable to control the task tray control panel icon. No. 1) was posted in Nov 09 ( http://bit.ly/BlueScrn ), supported by one tester's comment for the same problem. Resolution was just to change the flash memory, which worked out, and No. 2) was posted on the Blog on 22 Feb 10 ( http://bit.ly/GGL-IME ), supported by two other testers' comments for the same problems, and is still issue for my PC because the problem existed under Build 551. Well, then, I installed RC (Build 553) and please let me report in this forum how the problem looks like now under the RC.

■ [PC Configuration] My PC is an old one and therefore I appreciate the eBoostr which helped/is helping my PC performance a lot: Dell Dimension 4600C ('03 model), OS XP3 Home Edit., CPU Pentium 4/2.4GH, 2GB RAM, HDD 320GB ST3320820A. Start-up/Task Tray Icon: Avir AntiVir Personal Free, AnVir Task Mgr Free, TVman Plus, and eBoostr. [Caching] USB Flash 2GB and 4GB, and 200MB RAM out of 2GB, totaling 6GB and 200MB.

■ [Interim Evaluation Result] With MS IME, there was/is no problem in the eBoostr task tray control icon - able to operate over the icon. On 20 Mar 10, after installing Build 553 (IME changed to Google's), I rebooted PC - eBoostr was not able to be controlled over its task tray icon. Then, I performed another 3 times reboot test: #2 was same result, #3- eBoostr icon failed to appear on the task tray, #4 same with #1 and 2. I stopped the test. On 21 Mar, today, I did 15 times reboot tests. Interesting! Now, eBoostr Task Tray control pane icon works. The reason for this fix I assume is the Google Japanese IME version up which Google released on 19 Mar. Perphaps, my Google IME was updated today by the Google updater because I confirmed its updated version number today. I will continue my reboot test at least 10 times a day until RC expiration day, to ensure the problem is really fixed, and will put additional comments under this post. All other features' test should be rely on others who have good PCs.

■ [Comment to eBoostr] Trial mode behavior - Time Limitation Pop-up at PC start-up might cause some problems in old PCs if they have many start-up services/programs and entries in the task tray. I can hardly assume such PC users are participated in this RC evaluation.

■ [Voice to Japanese eBoostr User] If any Japanese eBoostr users (especially Google IME user) read this, please put comments on how your situation is. (Let me write it in Japanese) これを読んだ日本のeBoostrのユーザーの皆さん、特にGoogle IMEをeBoostrと一緒にお使いの皆さん、問題はありませんか？　私はGoogle IMEをインストールしてから、３月２０日までタスクトレイのeBoostrアイコンから制御できないと言う問題を抱えていました。　３月１９日にGoogle IMEがバージョンアップしていますが、そのせいか今はタスクトレイのeBoostrアイコンからの制御がきく様になりました。　ただし、まだ不安定要素を抱えています。　現在まだ実証実験中というところです。　これについて何かご意見がありましたら、この投稿のしたに追加投稿して頂ければ幸いです。　日本語で投稿してくださっても結構です。　不詳、私 Bunji94 が英語に訳して貴方の投稿の下に翻訳投稿します。宜しくご協力願います。

WindowsXP(SP2), eBoostr(Build 553) と GoogleIME-0.10.288.0 の組み合わせで使っていますが、
今のところ特に問題は見受けられないです。

C_sar, I thank your comment above in responding to the "Voice to Japanese User". As I stated in my initial post, please let me translate yours into English:

"I have been using my PC/WindowsXP (SP2) along with eBoostr (Build 553) and Google IME-0.10.288.0. So far, I do not recognize any notable issue." (Translated by Bunji94.)

[Reboot Test Report of 22 Mar 10 (JST)]

I did 10-time PC reboot test today regarding Google IME issue. Out of 10, test # 1 thru 3 and 5 I had the same problems with previously reported; however, test #4 and 6 thru 10 I had no problem - unable to control eBoostr over the task tray icon. As C-sar above reported, some folks (could be majority of the users) may not have the problem. The problem is very situational depending on the circumstance of each PC; however, it is the fact that the problem exists or potentially exist. I will continue my test tomorrow too and post the test results in this thread ...... Bunji94 from Japan.

I did it today too. Well, no problem with 10-time reboot test. I can control the eBoostr over the task tray icon by the right-click and/or left-click. Well, well, I have one more day to test. Let's see what it will look like. [Bunji94 from Japan]

[Reboot Test Report of 24 Mar 10 (JST)]

Well, my eBoostr popped up and said "This is your last day of free evaluation. Once trial period is expired, you must purchase a license to unlock the software or uninstall it from your computer." Accordingly, today is my last day of Reboot Test. For the sake of the "last day", I did performed 15-times reboot test just now. As a result, no conflict happened. If possible, I would like to continue the test for a few days more; however, the situation given by the eBoostr.com does not allow it. In the ending of my test, I would say the conflict I encountered would not happen in the most cases. In addition, Build 553 demonstrated its good performance including superstar cache hit ratio, best one of the builds during the Beta test period. [bunji94 from Japan]

Because trial period was extended, I have restarted my rebooting test and will continue until the trial expiration, just in case. I did it 6 times today. No conflict occurred between Google IME and the eBoostr control panel icon. In addition, I did dfrag today to test my PC and eBoostr on whether any problems happens after defrag or not, because a tester posted dfrag caused problems on his/her PC. I used Ultimate Dfrag (free version). Nothing happened on my PC and RC (Build 533). [Bunji94 from Japan]

[Trial Last Day Test Report, as of 1 Apr 10 (JST)] Well, it's last day of my RC (Build 553) trial period. I continued PC rebooting tests for the problem posted during this trial period, at least 6 times' reboot a day. The result of the tests is very good! There was/is no problem in using the Control Panel task tray icon. With this fantastic result for me, I close my test and the issue posted here. Yes, I have confirmed the RC (Build 553) is working very good! [Bunji94 from Japan]

Congratulations on official build 554 release!!! It still conflicts with Google Japanese IME though. Perhaps only me.

Thank you for the license, Andrey! Build 554 is working good so far. Per your statement in the Post - "Version 4 Beta Program is Closed", this Beta Program site will remain, right? So, I believe the most of testers wil keep using this site to put comments or reports for Build 554.

Lets try this way once - Uninstall Google Japanese IME -> Clean up registry (use "Argente") -> Reboot PC -> Ensure eBoostr control panel icon in Task Tray is working -> Reinstall Google IME -> Win Control Panel (Region/Language -> Language Detail -> ensure setting is Google IME) - Reboot PC. Thank you Bunji94, I have tried that way but the problem not resolved. Upon reboot, dialog pops up {Explorer.EXE - アプリケーションエラー - "0x7337611a"の命令が"0x7337611a"のメモリを参照しました。メモリが"written"になることはできませんでした。　プログラムを終了するには[OK]をクリックしてください　プログラムをデバッグするには[キャンセル]をクリックしてください}.

While context menu is disabled, eBoostr itself looks like still working for a while. However, eBoostr icon in the task tray disappears after few hours.

Sugar,

Did it become worse? If so, you may restore your registry by use of restore function of Argente: "Backup" -> Select your latest "Backup Created on ...." under "Backup of repaired errors" -> Click "Restore". Or, you may use Win Restore function: at Start Menu, click "Run Command" (ファイル名を指定して実行) -> Enter "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Restore\rstrui.exe" -> Select "Restore", then click "Next" -> Select your appropriate System Check Point -> then, process restoration.

But, before all above, I recommend you switch IME from Google to the MS on Win Control Panel (Region/Language) and then reboot PC. If no problem happens, then Google IME is causing the problem. In such case, it may be the best way to uninstall Google IME. The problem in association with the start-up is caused by no only "conflict between Google and eBoostr" but also possibly caused by your other start-up programs and services, their combination and priority issue. In order for you examine start-up programs and services, I recommend you try "AnVir Task Manager free" available at http://bit.ly/AnVir-TaskMgr-free . It`s a very useful tool. You may minimize your start-up programs and change unnecessary services from auto-start to on-demand or disable.

Nonetheless, the easiest solution would be uninstall Google IME for the time being. In some near future, it will be improved more, since it`s being frequently updated. Sorry that my previous advice didn't work ..... [Bunji94 from Japan]

Bunji94,

I have changed several unnecessary services from auto-start to on-demand as you advised me. Still, Google Japanese IME caching service is auto-start. Now, I see no conflict between the IME and eBoostr. Thank you very much for your help!
