   John Rust, http://dotnet.agilekiwi.com/blog/2008/10/how-eboostr-works.html claims knowledge form eBoostr Tech Support that you can use both RAM and flashcard caches together with priority going to RAM.

   This seems like a great feature but the EBoostr help files do not mention this – Is it so??

   If true, how do I check comparative speed ratios since the speed check seems to only allow checking one cache at a time.

   And if it is true, then the help files should be amended to encourage this setup.

   Any other comment or information would be most welcome.

   I would like to know if John's presumption is correct? To me it would make more sense to put all the smallest files on the USB. USB has good access times but slow read times. HDD has better read times but slower access. RAM beats all by a huge margin. Maybe eBoostr could have a test/analysis function were it tests the size, read, write and access speeds of RAM, HDD,USB and SD cache locations available. Then has a look at usage statistics and what it would be caching and make some recommendations on what it finds. An example is that if you have a system with 4GB of RAM and SSD's for storage, using a USB or SD cache will actually reduce performance.

   Its ture, eboostr will use your ram befor your flash. Far as I know, eboostr doesnt check for what file is faster for on the cache devices, but size. Biger files will go on the USB while smaller ones will go into ram to fill more init. + things with higher priority will try to fill it frist befor other files.

   I so would think your system files or boot files would be better inside your usb then your ram. The files are usally only access at boot so having them in ram would be a wast and cause your system clears the ram on reboot, it would have to put that data back inside everytime. So that would cause some slow down on start time, while the usb doesnt get flushed so it'll always be there. Now you may ragu that once inside ram it'll be fast, true, but it still has to get there and its only access at boot while a flash all ready has it there and ready to go.
