What size caches have you setup on what media?
Can you go to help in the control panel and do a speed check?
I find browsers are not the best to do tests on as they are also loading web pages. Try it on MS Word or MS Excel or equivelent.
With 4GB installed you will get very good performance with a 2GB RAM cache and no USB or HDD cache.
You may get slightly better performance by turning superfetch off.

Hi Philip,
Your "Speed Measure" test is better than mine but I find this test most inconsistent.
I have only 1 MB RAM and have found the fastest speeds are obtained when I restrict my flashcard to 1 GB.
I have just done 2 "Speed Measure" tests and got:
Direct Access 9.97 Cache Access 9.70 Ratio 1.03 Hits 95%
Direct Access 12.53 Cache Access 52.67 Ratio 0.24 Hits 92%
However, using the "Speed Check" (under Help on the control panel)which I understand randomly selects many programs, I am getting an average ratio of 1.24 over 42 runs. Instant ratios vary from 1.0 to 1.4.
Just to add to confusion, a stopwatch check on the loading time of Coral Paintshop Pro was 29 seconds with eBoostr disabled and 19 for the first load with it enabled and 7 seconds thereafter.
I think the stopwatch test is confused by both windows and the built in disk cache doing part of what eBoostr is trying to do.
In spite of this, the modest 24% gain achieved by eBoostr has given me a generally snappier PC.
Hopefully one of the eBoostr developers can comment on this.

PS some of the unbelievably high ratios recorded in this forum result from people using huge amounts of RAM cache with probably slow old hard disks for the direct tests.

I performed another speed check with Eclipse and 5 passes. Word doesn't work for me because it always crashes with the speed check and so it doesn't want to go on.
This time I got a better ratio: 1.62
With the speed check under the help menu I get a ratio of 30:
To answer your question chooky: I use only one cache (System Memory) with 2 GB in size:

I get widely varying ratioss depending on the program being tested anywhere from 1.19 for Internet Explore 8 to 8.19 for MS Excel 2007. The cache hit percent also has a big influence.

SPEED MEASURE TOOL
Its possible that my previous posting of speed ratio 0.24 was buggered up by my AV automatically starting up.
Here are today's results (2 runs of each) with definitely no competiton:

As I said, ebooster is most inconsistent even with only one program being tested.

Philp I notice your cache fill is only 59% Have you added your most used applications to Options->Applications Priority? If you have have you inadvertently excluded an important file type? You can copy and paste the contents of C:\ProgramData\eboostr\exclude.ini here and we can have a look.

David, I get about the same ratio with IE8 accept mine opens in 4-5 seconds it must be painful to wait 30 seconds for IE to open. I set my home page to blank for the test, this may make a difference.

I took your point and switched ie8 to start with blank. Here's the result:
iExplore 8
Direct Access 35.06, Cache Access 25.64, Ratio 1.40, Hits 97%
Much the same as previously when it defaulted to Google.
However there is no way I am waiting 30 seconds to open ie8.
In the absence of a decent watch I timed the load by counting slowly in 1000s after the click.
By the time I drew breath to say one thousand and two, the internet was there waiting!!!
I can live with a load time of between 1 and 2 seconds.
I rest my point about "eBoostrmeasure.exe" being inconsistent and would go further and declare that it is down right inaccurate!

PS I tried Chrome in its beta stage but was so impressed with ie8 final that I've used it ever since. With ie8 defaulting to Google for a home page, my counting got 7 seconds for the first time and 4 seconds for the next 3 goes. Still pretty good in my book.

OK I am with you now! For some reason eBoostrmeasure.exe isn't measuring the time correctly on your machine or just for that program. Actually on my PC IE does not seem to take 4 seconds. It is nearly as quick as Chrome, certainly not 3 seconds longer! So this could be a bug with eBoostrmeasure.exe.
Chrome has come along way since beta stage you may be pleasantly surprised.

Actually thinking about it more eBoostrmeasure.exe maybe measuring when the application is idle. With IE this could be a different time to when the application is ready for input. If you have Suggested sites or RSS feeds enabled it could be doing stuff in the background but it looks ready. There are so many variables with IE, and other browsers, I would suggest we use simpler programs like word or excel to compare different PC's.

I just completely uninstalled eBoostr. The system and and the overall speed is just snappier now compared to when eBoostr was installed.
I don't know why this can be.
In WinXP 32 Bit eBoostr improved the overall performance for me but not anymore in Win 7 Ultimate 32 Bit.
Any clues how I could setup eBoostr to experience a speed increase?

I think the problem was the low cache fill. eBoostr can only make applications and parts of the OS faster if they are in the cache. Try deleting the C:\ProgramData\eboostr folder, C:\eboostr and C:\Program Files (x86)\eBoostr if they exist before reinstalling eBoostr. Give eBoostr a couple of days to build up statistics.
