Prefetch on XP?

By Martin | November 21st, 2008 | 5:00 am

What is the relationship between eBoostr and Prefetch on XP, please?

Does it matter if Prefetch is disabled; just enabled for boot files; or (the default, and my settings) enabled for apps and boot files?

Does using eBoostr bypass or suspend XP’s use of prefetching (it doesn’t seem to stop its monitoring/building the Prefetch folder here)?

Eboostr does not bypass or suspend prefetching.

The better configuration is having both eboostr and prefetch enabled.

    Okay, thanks. But why?

Prefetching does good job in optimizing read requests (instead of many small ones it can issue one larger), while eboostr optimizes these requests completion (redirects them to currently faster storage).

    Ah, now I see. Thanks.
