User interface

A)
The windows looks a little too big, it isn’t usefull.
I’d like to keep the program “always on the top”
to allow me to check ‘live’ what is the load of the HD / Cache.
A small-interface should be implemented so users (testers now)
can see performances in a corner of the monitor and test it better.
It will be usefull once the program will be released too,
it can help to find best settings for eboostr.

B)
I’d like to get an option to allow eboostr to get exclusive access to a device.
Once I set my pendrive as “EXCLUSIVE USE”, the letter of the drive has to
disappear from my system.

C)
Once I select SHOW CACHE CONTENT, I see some files (links or other stuff) that
I forgot to have. They are died on my desktop and they have been cached.
I’d like to have an advanced way to tell the program
“unload from the cache”
“never cache this/these file/s”

D)
Once I select FILE>EXIT it disappear from the taskbar, btw the cache is always
ACTIVE. You should add a message like “You are going to close eboostr,
but the CACHE DRIVE is still running”

—————-
I’m testing eboostr on a P3 1000, 2×256 MB (100/133MHz), USB1 and a 256MB pendrive.
The drive looks a little small to increase performance, btw I noticed that this laptop is working better in some case.
I will test the program with other hardware soon.
—————–

I’m pretty sure that I forgot to say something, btw I will make a new post if needed

Cheers

Livio

Nice points! I love the first idea! However there already is a implimentation in the system tray kind of like it.

About B) That is very hard to acomplish unless you figure out the deviceID and then you would just have to remove the letter in diskmgmt.msc. From programming experience, this is a hard thing to achieve however if we use deviceID in the control panel as an alternative it might be easier to code.
(very nice feature to see in BETA 3+ though)

    C) Agree Totally Except Most Users Will Not Want To Mess Around with this that much because they will have no clue what to set. So there should be an advanced option.
Just curious what file(s) would you like to remove?

D)Agree Totally… Except I would have a prompt that would say “Would you like to continue to cache?” and then allow the user to specify no or yes upon closing.

    Very Good Points!

About A) the trayicon is a lil hard to check system performance

    C) Sure, it has to be an ADVANCED option with “ALLERT, you are going to touch blabla…”
Eboost caches many things I have on my desktop, linx, exe.. i.e. I can see putty.exe and other stuff. I see cached something about Internet Explorer, btw I use firefox only and I don’t have any related program opened (wmp…)

    D) Yeah, I didn’t explain it with many details, that was the general idea

    I have an extra point:

    E) Cache viewer: hex size of files is a lil hard to understand without calc.exe ;)
