Build 536

By Andrey Zarudnev | September 22nd, 2009 | 2:08 pm

We have just published new build 536.

It contains the following updates and fixes:

  • Fixed freezes on unmanaged RAM check and cache load
  • Windows 2000 speed check procedure corrected
  • New settings.ini parameter to set cache rebuild behavior (see below)

Cache rebuild behavior

Once an hour eBoostr service checks if your computer is idle and updates the cache contents. We have added a new parameter “idletimebuild” which allows you to set the amount of time your computer is actually idle to start a cache rebuild. This value is given in seconds and is equal to 60 seconds by default.

Example: You often leave your computer idle for short periods of time (phone calls or college chats for example) and eBoostr automatically starts cache update. You get back to your desktop and cache rebuild is interrupted before finished leaving not fully filled cache or outdated file contents. Now you can set the value of actual idle time for the eBoostr to start cache update. Set it for example to 10-15 minutes and cache will be updated only during your lunch time or a long meeting.

    Alright, will test now.

(eBoostr does not see an update through the program, but it might be a firewall issue…)

my build 535 saw the 536 update was available thru my firewall. have installed 536 without problems.

i do not have a settings.ini file, i am assuming it is a text file in the eboostr install directory and just requires a line

    idletimebuild = 600

I am on XP 32-bit. Now, the cache is more responsive. I notice that when running Visual Studio 2005. Good job.

Please check the “Advanced configuration” section in the help file about the “setitngs.ini” file. In brief you should create such a file.

Some folders, like C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop and another one, StartUpDelayer 2.5.138, won’t open any more since having installed eBoostrBeta4.0.0.536.
    Going back to eBoostrBeta4.0.0.535.

Tried turning on unmanaged RAM (not that I think it’s workable on a 915GM box, since the 2GB limit is probably hardware limited) on a Windows XP SP3 box, and eBoostr Control Panel froze.

Besides, not sure if it’s related to eBoostr 4 or not since I’ve installed a bunches of updates together, but the wireless interface stopped working after reboot.

Will keep looking for the cause.
