Beta 2 and PC freezes

By Stevvie | February 15th, 2008 | 5:55 pm

Not sure if this is related to eboostrBeta2 but I havn’t installed anything other than a couple of games in the last few days. For the last day or 2 my PC has just frozen dead, NO blue screen just mouse stops, the PC stops accessing the net and the hard drives stop accessing. Just thought I post here and see if anybody else has had this to help narrow down whats going on.

Are you using RAM cache? We were having this problem before the Beta release (that was the reason of its delay). It was supposed to be fixed.

Can you please try the build 407 and check if this behavior will still be present?

I don’t believe it, but minutes after posting the last comment the PC just froze.

Not sure if this helps but I’ve removed the ram cache about yesterday just after posting and I’m only using the same D:(hardrive 4gig) and L:(Corsair Voyager GT USB2 1.5gig) that I was using on version 1 of eboostr, And I just had the PC freeze.

Thanks, yes, it will help. Mike has some thoughts on the subject and will post them later.

I had to copy the entire contents of my photo’s from DVD to my D: drive that has a cache on it. and EVERY time it locked up. I uninstalled eboostr build 407 and then copied the DVD to the HD. The DVD has a few thousand pics and some vids on it and took about 10-15 minutes to copy.

So far I’ve tried it with just hd cache, just USB cache, and just ram cache and they all seemed to freeze the PC.

I’m almost certain it probebly small files. I seems to crash when copying small files around. If I just play games or chack my emails it’s fine, but as soon as I start browsing the net or copy files from DVD’s to the PC it seems to freeze not long after.
