Beta 2.0 Build 408

I’m in my second day of testing Beta 2.0 Build 408. So far, so good. I’ve received a relatively small but noticeable boost in performance. No problems such as BSODs, hangups or anything bad has come up. I recently did a clean Windows XP SP2 installation.

Some issues I’ve encountered are the following:

– After long periods of inactivity (laptop being left on and downloading), the random read speed drops below 500 KB/s
– Removing the cache afterwards, adding a new one then rebuilding the cache takes a 15-30 minutes estimate
– Had to remove flash drive to restore high random read speed (9.9 MB/s)
– Problematic speed measurement tool (problems testing Adobe InDesign; won’t terminate the process)

A few suggestions:

– Built in filters to exclude temp files and other huge files (such as Google Earth data file) and directories that are frequently stored with temp data

– Purge deleted or non-existent file feature (so that eBoostr won’t do a full rebuild of the cache file which takes a long time on large caches)

I too have found 408 to be more stable and 409 even better
