Boot time in Vista Biz
By Tintin N | November 16th, 2008 | 9:28 am
Yesterday i tried the eBoostr beta 3 on my laptop (c2d 2.1ghz, hyper x ram, 7200 rpm Hdd, service and os tweaked etc.
When i boot without windows readyboost i have a boot time of 35-45 sec.
With readyboost: 45-55 sec
With eboostr 3 beta: 90-130+! sec
eboostr made my boot time go nuts! and made it super SLOW!!!
I also found out when i was using my ram + sd card as cache. Only the ram was using caching.
Does any1 know who it made my boot times go to ultra slow mode?

Try to remove memory cache. In this case boot will be mach faster.
Memory cache makes good job during application startup and accessing small hard disk time, but unfortunately it takes some time to load it during startup.

I did what you told me to do and i have 256mb ram reserved for eboostr and 0% cache. It seems that startup is a bit faster. But if it is at 0%cache what does it do?

What is happening when you click the “Build cache now” button? BTW did you have any previous versions installed before?

If i use a usb memory with cache the boot time will just be a little slower. But if i use my ram with cache it takes forever to boot.
I have also found out that i have a better ratio with readyboost than with eboostr

We have performed some tests and actually leaving SuperFetch enabled and ReadyBoost disabled is the fastest option.

Version 3 has a new statistics database format, so it resets/deletes all your previous data upon installation. Please allow 2-3 days for the new stats to be gathered.
