Cache building during idle times

Anyway to check whether cache is being built during idle system times?

You can check eboostr.dat modification time – it is a last time whan cache was updated.

How occasionally will the cache be updated?
How eboostr know that my system is idle and it is time to build cache? I did not touch my comp for a few hours but the last cache time is the time I manually built the cache.

Cache is updated every hour. System is idle if there was not user interaction during 5 minutes and processor usage is less than 10%. Try to recreate you cache file and leave it on time > hour (do not fill it manually). If cache will not be filled after that period please contact support.

Is it possible to customize the processor usage? Or anyway to check the processor usage when building cache. Maybe a entry in the event viewer saying cannot build cache due to high processor usage?
Dec 20, 2008
We will add customization for processor usage level to next build. You will be able to customize min_idle value in setting.ini

any guide on how to do that?
Dec 20, 2008
Ok. Create C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\eboostr\settings.ini (change this path to appropriate for your system) with following content:
; eBoostr settings
[eBoostr]
MinIdleValue=0
. That will turn off checking of processor idle time. Or use any other value from 1 to 99
Please note, that is not implemented yet and will not be available till 480 build

I tried out what you suggested. Tried creating a cache file but not filling it and left my computer running overnight. this morning the cache is still 0%

Tried on another PC.
Windows XP x64 SP3.
Still no sign of cache rebuilding.

That is definitely wrong behavior.
Please contact support at support@eboostr.com

I tried out the new MaxIdleValue=0 (disabled) but it seems that even when I am using the computer, it will still build cache. I thought that the cache will build if there are no user interaction for 5 min but in my case I disable the checking for processor idle only.

Hi Ilya, I cant seem to find the settings.ini file, where would this be located under Vista?
Jan 03, 2009
You would need to create this file. For Vista, it would be under C:\ProgramData\eboostr
For other settings, you can look at http://www.eboostr.com/closedbeta/feedback/settingsini/
