Can’t Add Memory as a Cache Device
By Mainframer | December 29th, 2008 | 11:23 pm
I’m currently running XP SP3 with 2Gb of memory and eBoostr build 483 with a 2Gb flash device. I’d like to add system memory as a cache device. The Task Manager shows I have 1294700Kb free, but trying to add even a small memory cache, say 256Mb, results in the following error message:
Failed to add the cache file.
Please check that the selected device is writable and enough space is available.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

How much free space do you have on your system drive?

The c; dirve has 67.2GB of free space. In case it matters, the system page file is fixed at 400MB.

I’ve reduced the eBoostr cache allocation from 4GB to 2GB and rebuilt the cache. Now memory doesn’t even show up as a cache device. Instead, when I click on Add, I get the message:
There are no devices found or available to be used for caching.
Please plug-in your flash drive or memory card and retry.
