scientific eboostr speed evaluating
Rightly, someone said to me to measure the eboostr speed in a scientific way, instead of talking about my bad feeling about the speed decrease of the beta4 release. Here there are my tests.
Config: Asus a4ka Mobile Workstation, athlon64 3200+, 2gb ram kingston, usb 2.0, winxp pro sp2 automatically updated, firefox web browser, usb 2.0 transcend jetflash memory jf v30/4gb, eboostr beta4, 3gb cache allocated.
The system starts this way:
37 sec. from Asus black bios screen to WinXp starting blue screen, and 73 sec. from this moment to system started and ready (no activity on the HD and the flash USB memory). Tot 110 sec. (eboostr didn’t measure this starting value? i can’t find this measure now in the measures.txt). Time calculated using a watch chronograph, the reboot was made after a “clear” session (ran only eboostr test, and no other applications). With the beta 2 the best time was 96 sec.; the average time is 130 sec. (by the previous release of the eboostr boot speed measuring tool).
The following speed values are calculated by the beta 4 measuring tool. The system had no other active or opened application. I call this a “clear” measure. But in real life, i use three or four applications together, while one app is running or calculating something i use another one. I call this “real working”. In the future, i’ll try to use the eboostr measuring tool while working in real conditions.

I’m just curious because I want to experience a similar performance increase. What’s the capacity and manufacturer/brand of your flash drive? Your cache enabled access speeds are incredible!
Oct 25, 2007
transcend jetflash usb pendrive jfv30/4gb, capacity 4 gb. it’s Vista ready too. A great product.

Can you please check if any items from “D:\Winamp” and “D:\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11” locations can be found in your cache file?
Oct 25, 2007
artamir, we did not made any significant changes in the core of the system that can influence on the performance. Mike Ivanov reported that the core team even increased the speed by approximately 10%.
May be you have something wrong with your cache file? Can you please check its contents using the viewer and search it for you favorite apps and their components?
Oct 26, 2007
i have some files from “D:\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11″ location, and a lot of files from “D:\Winamp”. I have the .jpg of the captured screens, showing the files in the cache (i don’t know if there is another way to report to you the cache contents). if you need them , i cand send to you (tell me how). Thank you

i’ve searched the cache contents for my favorite apps. every apps i measured the speed of in the speed test i submitted in this feedback is in the cache with more or less files. may be i make my 3gb cahce again? now it’s full.
