Can’t add memory as a cache device.
See this screen shot first. http://teels269.v3webhard.com/error.jpg
I selected ‘Add new cache device’ and it said there was 1613 MB free space available of 2046 MB total on System Memory.
Then I adjusted amount of space (512 MB) and clicked ‘OK’ .
After that…I got the Hard disk as a cache device!
To remove it, I had to set it to ‘Disable’ and clicked ‘Remove’ button and set it to ‘Enable’ again.
Just clicking of ‘Remove’ button was ineffective.
I had tried to add memory as a cache device by changing amount of space (256 MB) and it became to Hard disk device too.
What’s wrong?
To clean install, I removed cache devices of build 482 but a cache device of memory was not remover by ‘Remove’ button. (USB disk was removed properly)
Is it a reason of this bug? (of course I did all restart)
Recommended procedure for installing version 3 are following
(1) unstall version 2 (2) reboot (3) install version (4) reboot
However most users like me often skip (2) or (4)
I think skipping (2),(4) often makes problems such as “can not mount Ram as a Cache”
Thus, Ver 3 must detect any existence of Ver2 and intiate reboot process prior to installing ver 3.

Hello everybody.
There are a few issues with using certain languages, most notably the East Asian languages such as Chinese.
After selecting Chinese, for example, all text is replaced by boxes except for the “Build cache now” button and cache devices list. All other buttons show boxes.
Granted, Windows 2000 is not as Unicode friendly as Windows XP on the interface…
I’m currently running XP SP3 with 2Gb of memory and eBoostr build 483 with a 2Gb flash device. I’d like to add system memory as a cache device. The Task Manager shows I have 1294700Kb free, but trying to add even a small memory cache, say 256Mb, results in the following error message:
Failed to add the cache file.
Please check that the selected device is writable and enough space is available.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
hi again!! thanks for the update eboostr build 483. The system is working perfectly.
I’m using an Intel pentium 4 1.5 Ghz, 512mb ram, and a 2 G Flash Disk.
after installation i got:
Direct access speed: 12.57 Mb/s
Cache enabled access speed:21.81 Mb/s
ratio: 1.73
file transfer and saving on the usb is also working perfectly while the flash disk are being used by the eboostr. just take note to allocate a little space on the flash drive for saving your valuable files. thanks again and happy new year.

RANDOM READ SPEED ON Adata 4gb flash pd7 turbospeed usb 2.0: 19040 KB/s
FANTASTIC improvement in system performance on this tired old system with 2 firewalls, (sunbelt kerio and zone alarm) and avira antivirus and spybot and mozy and netmeter etc. running in the background which were added to the priority list…
Improvements would include dumbing down wherever possible, I am somewhat geeky but don’t know if Vista uses NTFS… Upon installation, system rebooted without asking… File, “minimize to tray” is ok but regular minimize underscore would be nice… Perhaps a small box at the top of the screen with the 3 system status bars as an option (always on top) like the readerror netmeter display… I am trying to find suggestions because it is really great software and I want that free copy !
This file is used to fine tune the eBoostr and usually there is no need to create/edit it. Please make changes only if you have some problems or issues.
Here goes an example of a file with all parameters available:
; eBoostr config file
[eBoostr]
maxfilesize=10000000
showpartitions=1
MinIdleValue=80
;StatPath="e:\"
maxfilesize parameter is used to limit the size of the file that eBoostr will cache. The value is given in bytes.
showpartitions parameter enabled allows you to select the desired partition for the RAM cache storage. By default it goes to the same disk/partition where your Windows system installed (usually “C:”.)
MinIdleValue is the new parameter added in the recent 482 build. This value is used to determine the “idle” state used to automatically update the cache contents (rebuild). Less value will ignore your background (or foreground) activity and start the rebuild.
StatPath sets the folder to store eBoostr statistics database (filestat.dat) May be used in case you have a low disk space on system disk.
“;” is used for comments.
Please note, in order for all the value changes to take effect, you should stop the eBoostr service, update the values and start the service again.

When the computer awakes from hibernate then about half the times there is no activity from the tachometer , i.c EBoostr is not functioning.
I can start again by Edit – Show cache content and when I do this Last cache/disk hit ratio is showing even before the content screen is opened.
For the rest , a very usefull progranm

Hi, …
V. 3.0 build 482 = On a test machine : XP, x86, sp3 3 gig. ram, “2 gig EBoostr RamCache”. “DDR-1″, “4 x 1024 meg dual channel 128 bit”.
—
I have been able to made a “2048 meg, eboostr ramcache”. = When you add a ramcache, enter in the rectangle the value with the keyboard.
—-
I see that it show errors on selecting 99999, in the rectangle memory selection, of “add a ramcache”, in eboostr.
—
Also, the slider of “add ramcache”, in eboostr = even if it go to the max on the right, dont show the max value. Also it go to upper memory value, if you use the up/down, arrow.
—
When pressing “Cancel”, on the check speed section, when the “preparing…” text appear, it show that = see below.
