1. Just wonder, are there significant performance differences in between using different file systems?
2. Besides, since Vista is now supported, is it safe to persume exFAT is also supported (on Vista SP1)…? And it’s possible to create a cache file larger than 4GB on exFAT as well…?
3. If one creates 2 x 4GB cache files on a 8GB flash media formatted using FAT16 or FAT32, does eBoostr automatically fill-in both cache file with different content…?
Cheers.

It’s installed and working just fine. However, I honestly can’t tell if it is really helping me or not. Visual Studio.NET, FireFox and Thunderbird are the main applications I am concerned about and I did select them. My VS compiles are still slow (maybe marginally faster) and FireFox still pauses a lot. I’ve done a lot of optimization on both as well as Windows beyond eBoostr as well.
It may help your sales if you can show more definitely the gains on someone’s computer even if it is just outlining a test procedure to follow.
In my personal case, VS compiles and .NET application speed are going to be the deciding factor.

i was wondering whether is or is not necessary to cache the windows/system32 folder. that contains lots of drivers that are anyway loaded into system ram. in same situation i think is the fonts folder. does it make an sense to cache them?

Ilya,
just to let you know, the filesize filter works like a charm.
I have several filters in place:
– settings.ini
[eBoostr]
maxfilesize=7864320
(so basically, a 7.5 MB filesize restriction)
– exclude.ini (already had these extensions in here before the filesize fix)
*.7z
*.zip
*.rar
*.r0?
*.r1?
*.r2?
*.r3?
*.r4?
*.r5?
*.r6?
*.r7?
*.r8?
*.r9?
*.cab
*.msi
*.msu
*.msp
*.rpt
*.log
*.mp3
*.wav
*.wma
*.ogg
D:\Downloads
C:\System Volume Information
D:\System Volume Information
C:\MSOCache
D:\MSOCache
C:\RECYCLER
D:\RECYCLER
(basically: no archive files, no installer packages, no log files, no audio files, and some system directories excluded).
The filters combine perfectly and the result is indeed as expected; after a spyware/virus scan my cache file is no longer completely filled with large files that were accessed by the scanning process. Also if I check the cache viewer, all files are smaller than 7.5MB
thanks.
Only issue I have is the license update screen as reported by other people already.

Maybe it’s already there, but since I haven’t notice any speedup in boot process, I don’t think it’s already implemented.
When eBoostr service/driver loads, it should cache boot files at first to maximize boot process. eBoostr could have some own statistics how files are loaded during boot, or it could you use information in C:\Windows\Prefetch\Layout.ini.
When boot process is complete and user is logged in completely, eBoostr could remove those boot files from cache to free cache space for normal applications.

Everytime eBoostr rebuild the cache, disk access goes up and slow down the whole system. Why not build cache while the files are accessed? I believe a lot of users would be happy if it is done this way.

Hello,
Thanks for the effort and the problem of no RAM option as cache device has been resolved with build 473
http://www.eboostr.com/closedbeta/feedback/build-471-does-not-solve-the-inability-to-detect-ram-as-cache-device-issue/
There are two problems observed after selecting RAM as cache device.
1) I have two physical hard disks and each of them has two partitions. (C: ; D: for the first physical drive and E: ; F: for the second physical drive.). After the RAM cache is build, if i go to add cache device dialog, drive C: and drive D: are no longer available as selection

2) In the control panel, my USB flash device is shown as a hard disk icon (see CH_SANDISK) rather than a flash drive icon. I am using SanDisk Cruzer Contour 8G.
If you need any additional information, please let me know

I have installed build 471 for a few days and it works well. However, I noticed that it became inactive several times a day because it started cache building spontaneously all by itself.
OS Vista SP132-bit, RAM 4 GB, USB flash drive 4GB x 2

By chrome, I tried 4 times to download “http://www.eboostr.com/files/eBoostr_beta.exe” via “http://www.eboostr.com/beta/downloads/”, but always get 574,080 bytes only.
Once I changed to download by IE , everything is fine.

this question has probably been asked before, can the Eboostr software be installed on the actual USB mem device it is caching too?
If I have 1024 meg of ram, c: 40g d: 40g and usb mem is 16g,
how much cache is reasonable to use, and how much ram cache shou i use?
