eBoostr Portable?

By fastest963 | March 17th, 2008 |

I’m working on a Thinstall version of eBoostr, if someone can help me with this….

It seems to be launching the service successfully, however I cannot seem to get the “Control Panel” to open its window, it shows up in the taskbar but I cannot open it.

I’m posting links below to the files captured and the final result….

Final Exe(s):

Files Captured:

Thanks

If this is not possible because of driver/service requirements, can a .bat or something be made to install the required components then delete them upon close?

suggestion beta 2.0

Can you make it so that I can allocate more ram to eboostr?

I have 4gb now and would like to give eboostr 1.75gb – 2.0gb.

I can only allocate 1024mb now.

Periodic Inactive Pausing

By fastest963 | March 9th, 2008 |

Periodically eBoostr will pause or build cache (100%) and the taskbar icon will turn yellow.  Upon opening eBoostr, if paused, I have to Stop Caching then Restart Caching to get it to be active again.  However, I can just leave it yellow then after a minute or two it will turn green (active) again.  Is this supposed to be happening?  I don’t remember this happening >409.

Thanks

Exclude list + cache rebuild

By faxenoff | March 8th, 2008 |

Please add “Rebuild cache” button in exclude dialog form. “Rebuild cache” – mean “Delete excluded files from current cache”.

Also,  can be useful item “Reset file statistic” in menu.

Now, after adding some new exclude rules I do:

  1. Remove all caches
  2. Stop service
  3. Delete  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\eboostr\filestat.dat”  manually.
  4. Start service
  5. Run eBoostr
  6. Add caches

Not too easy for using. 8-)

Little Enhancement

By fastest963 | March 7th, 2008 |

On the ‘Add Cache Device’ dialog, I would like to see the value update as the slider is moved, this way you are not ‘sliding blind’. Now I know that this is a minor request and there are more important matters however I was very annoyed by this and would like to see it “fixed” by version 2.0 full.

thanks

Build 410 is here

By Andrey Zarudnev | |

A new build 410 was just published. This build includes a bug fix that caused BSOD (on my office desktop(!!!)), a small change in application speed tool and two new languages (Arabic and Lithuanian).

It seems that build 409 (as well as this build 410) are pretty stable version, so we are starting to prepare for an official version 2 release.

Thank you for your cooperation!

P.S. Sorry for this long inactivity period. I was out of town and had a very limited access to the internet.

Random read access speed. Device L: – 15607 KB/s

this version seems to be working fine on my XP system

not experiencing any of the slowdown or sluggish problems

like I was having with previous builds 407 or 408

2.0 build 409 – Noticeable speed increase

No issues during upgrade from build 407 to 409. I definitely see a speed increase in applications. That RAM cache option is amazing!

Beta 2.0 Build 408

By kyapjoco | |

I’m in my second day of testing Beta 2.0 Build 408. So far, so good. I’ve received a relatively small but noticeable boost in performance. No problems such as BSODs, hangups or anything bad has come up. I recently did a clean Windows XP SP2 installation.

Some issues I’ve encountered are the following:

– After long periods of inactivity (laptop being left on and downloading), the random read speed drops below 500 KB/s
– Removing the cache afterwards, adding a new one then rebuilding the cache takes a 15-30 minutes estimate
– Had to remove flash drive to restore high random read speed (9.9 MB/s)
– Problematic speed measurement tool (problems testing Adobe InDesign; won’t terminate the process)

A few suggestions:

– Built in filters to exclude temp files and other huge files (such as Google Earth data file) and directories that are frequently stored with temp data

– Purge deleted or non-existent file feature (so that eBoostr won’t do a full rebuild of the cache file which takes a long time on large caches)

little problem

By obsidian | February 25th, 2008 |

i’ve installed the new beta, restarted windows, than removed the device via control panel and added  again. i’ve encountered a writing error on caching device during the caching creation. after the error i closed the eboostr control panel and tried to manually remove the ebooster.dat file without succes, so i made a quick format. after this all goes well.  i’ve to say  that on the device used, i put also other files and not only the cache, may be this cause the writing error?

as always the program is stable and works well with the new exclude function. another idea may be to add a “purge files” command to remove non existent/deleted files.

keep testing! :)
