Crashes/freezes again.Don’t know what to do !
It crashed my xp ! I don’t know why , but when I started Eboostr 3 beta, my Windows freezed. I had to restart.
I checked the cache viewer and I noticed that some files are cached, but no longer actually exist. How often does eboostr check its cache against the actual filesystem?
The files I noticed were mostly old files from My Documents and Desktop.
Thanks,
James Hartig
It took several minutes to allocate the cache file (4 gigs) on my flash drive, OCZ ATV 4 GB, when it was formatted using FAT32 file system but the building cache process was fairly faster. When the change log for build 482 stated faster speed for building cache, I removed the previous cache file and rebuilt it. I didn’t notice any speed increase but then I decided to format it in NTFS.
Allocating the cache file is blazingly fast on the NTFS formatted flash drive, I only see the cache allocation window for a few seconds. I removed the cache file once again and then rebooted but the allocating cache process is still fast! Is this a limitation of FAT32 file system? I doubt it is a placebo effect.
Is it possible to implement a feature to hide the drive eBoostr is using from My Computer? I have allocated the whole flash drive space to eBoostr cache, unchecked the drive letter from the options in the Tweak UI (a part of Powertoys for Windows XP) and now I no longer see the drive in any open/save file dialog boxes.
As far as I know, there is no Powertoys for Vista available and I doubt hiding a drive is as easy as unchecking a box under Vista.
I just udated to Build 482, it didnt even require cache rebuild, but I still decided to do a manual cache rebuild for my SD-Card, and I noticed a huge difference in cache build performance.
I also added a 512MB system memory cache, seeing that this build has optimized memory cache for faster boot-ups, after which I manually rebuilt the cache on my SD-Card again, but when I view the cache content of the SD-Card there are a lot of “Deleted Entries” in the cache, which I am assuming are boot-up items so they have been moved to the system memory cache.
My question is if this affect the way the SD-Card cache is used, or will clear up later on?
Thank you.

I’ve been using eboost beta for 2 weeks now and it’s working great.
just make sure the flash drives are fast enough.

Hello, I am using b482 and try to add the USB devices and the program detect the wrong size of USB drive
So, when I am using this size to build the Cache drive, it cannot build the cache more than 1 %.
I think it makes sense that cannot build the Cache.
After adjust the size matched to my USB free space, it can work normally.
But maybe it is my problem because I am not using standard USB driver for this USB. I am using Hitachi Global Storage Driver such that I can partition the USB driver with different driver letter.
THANKS
Hello.
I’ve installed build 482 and found it can’t save exclude settings.
After adding file masks to exclude, I clicked “OK”.
But when I entered ‘option – exclude list’ again, there was no excludes.
And I had tried to set by copying exclude.ini to the folder as you told me.
But there was no folder unlike build 479.
So I made the folder manually and copied exclude.ini.
After that I entered ‘option – exclude list’, and now I can see & edit my exclude setting. (add/remove is possible now)
I guess build 482 doesn’t make the folder for exclude settings, therefore it can’s save, isn’t it?
I’ve instelled build 482 three times to check, and it happened always.
