I looked at cache viewer and saw there files which were used under different user profile. I think eBoostr should make file usage statistics and create cache for each user profile. It would make the cache more efficient, because when I log in to my account, only my files would be stored in cache.
Only boot files should be cached globally. see http://www.eboostr.com/closedbeta/feedback/boot-process-optimalization/
Thanks.

I have an 8GB SDD expresscard I’d like to use as a cache device in addition to the 4GB Cruzer USB flash drive I’m currently using. In order to use the full 8GB on the SDD I’d have to format it in NTFS, but then I’d suffer the drawbacks of NTFS on flash devices. So here’s what I’d like to see:
1) The ability to designate that certain file types must cache on a particular device. I could use this to cache files that are seldom or never modified onto the NTFS device, and files that are frequently modified onto the FAT32 device. This would allow me to beat the 4GB limitation of FAT32 without experiencing the drawbacks of NTFS.
2) To handle the files I’m not sure where to cache, eBoostr should have a smart allocation routine. This routine would read the usage data (number of times accessed, date created, date modified, etc) in order to determine which files are frequently modified. It would use this data to decide which device to cache the file on (frequently modified files on FAT32, seldom modified files on NTFS, etc).
3) A device setup tool to format and configure flash devices for optimum performance under eBoostr. For example, it could give the user the ability to partition the drive, format it as either FAT32 or as NTFS (after warning him of the performance consequences), designate particular files or file types to be cached onto the device, and specify the maximum cached file size. This tool would make recommendations to guide the user through the setup process. Using this tool, a user could partition a large flash device (for instance, my 8GB SDD) into a FAT32 patition, for frequently modified files, and a NTFS partition for stable files.
BTW, these features would enhance eBoostr’s utility under Vista as well as XP.
Thanks!

I have a question. I use RAM cache. Imagine I have file XYZ which is used very often. eBoostr caches this file to RAM. Then I want to read this file. What will happen then?
Will the file be read immediately from cache or it will be firstly copied from cache to “normal” part of RAM and read from there?
I hope my question is understandable :-)

Multiple occurances of System Exception -529697949 in eBoostr Service. Event ID 6. The record in the event log doesn’t contain any other data.
Interestingly, this looks like it occurred while the pc was in standby mode, which I can’t make sense of. I’ll try to provide better documentation.

first of all, the program is great i probe it the first and second version just trial and the programs in general opens faster, there are some suggestions that i want to say, I know that maybe there are difficult to put it in the program but had nothing to loose ! so here they are: from the second version its available to manage ram memory from the system, there are many computers at this time that have 4 gigs ram and working in XP, as is well know, flash memorys aren’t soo good managing small files, in fact small files are the headhache of the flash usb, so.. why not.. try to make that the smallest files were priority to be cached in the ram memory (where is possible) as many of the smallest files togheter doesnt really make a big amount of memory… and the ram is too much faster than HD or USB flash managing them, maybe this will increase the performance many times and making the big files (call them from 2MB and above) being cached into the flash memory or making this an option.. minimum file size to be cached in flash and maximum file size to be cached in ram… and make this an advanced option… letting the program to manage the best file size to be cached according to if you have ram to cache or not.
and the second and maybe the more difficult, trying to do a kind a of .. raid with the memorys… i have noticed that some files are equal cached in the flash memories.. i dont really know if this is benefical or if the program really read “chunks” of information from as many flash are installed.. maybe if not… then ebooster reads only from one memory the more available.. but there is no better to read from all togheter? i know this is more difficult as it sounds but maybe if they function as RAID 1 (i think managing raid 0 is too much work and maybe impossible) but there maybe would be another advanced option, making the flash 1 and flash 2, totally differents in content (option NO RAID) or making a copy of flash 1 into flash 2 (option RAID 1) and let the program read from the 2 memories at the same time… I dont know, its an idea that maybe it sounds very simple but too much difficult to make it real
the priority list is a great advantage that i want to probe since i have a big list of exclusion files and folders to prevent that inf, jpg, and some others small files and folders that contents it, to be cached into the flash usb… by the way, i have a usb hub full 2.0 and 4 usb readyboost supported flash memories taking care that the 4 usb doesnt read in conjunction more than 60 MB/s thats why i suggest that ebooster maybe can take advantage of this configuration of 4 usb in a hub with a maximum of 60MB/s of read/write .. . . .
thanks for reading it

For some reason it shows my ram twice as drive c: and d:
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application to make sure it was not a corrupted install.

I have added word 2003 at the application priority list. every time i open it word open for a bit then informs me that it needs to close. then proceeds to recover my documents.
When word is taken off the list everything is fine.
