Not finding my USB Drive

By Bill Haynie | October 2nd, 2007 |

When setting up the Cache only my local drive is shown which is Drive C. My USB drive is active as I can view the files.

Guess I’m not getting off to a very good start.

Maybe someone can tell me what I’ve done wrong. Thanks…

Auto build cache

Auto build cache feature should be implemented. It is so much easier to just install the program, set cache size and drive, and forget it forever.

USB 2.0 Hard Drive Not Recommended Yet. And Testing C:

By fastest963 | October 1st, 2007 |

A USB 2.0 Hard Drive is not recommended for use as a boost device!

I have 4 portable hard drives (ranging from 160gb to 250gb and 3 are Seagate and 1 is A Western Digital).  All of them had cache increase speeds of .75 to .94, with around 80% cache built (after 1 hour)!

That was with 2gb allocation! I will repost speeds with 1.5gb and 1gb.

So I suggest not using them as your device, at least at this point.

Instead, I’m testing the speed with C:\ (main WD drive)(1256mb allocated) and a SanDisk 1gb Cruzer (512mb allocated).

I wonder if using C:\ is a bad decision?, so I’m testing it. I also have PF enabled on C:\

I will reply with speeds once I get some more testing in…

1 intensive days test

By KillerBoy | |

I’ve tested for a standard work’s day (whitout xp virtual memory) and my laptop crash 2 times for insufficient memory (I’ve 1GB RAM and I’ve set 1600 mb cache) while running my standard applications (VC# Expres, VWD Express, SQL Server 2000, Outlook 2003, Programmer’s Notepad, WinVi32, uTorrent, Abilon, some others).

Administrators Only?

By jakehall2 | |

I was going to test this BETA out at my school however it seems that you have to be an administrator to install it.

Is there a way round this or not?

Starting the test

By Bizarro | |

I have allocated 485 MB of cache on 2 pen drive 512MB.

They are connected by USB 1.

Everything seems ok, but allocating time was VERY VERY high.

My pc has 128 mb of ram, p3 800 mhz.

Great, I love it!

SanDisk 1GB SD Card 900mb cache.

Starting Adobe Applications:

Photoshop CS2 without eBoostr ~ 30 Seconds
Photoshop CS2 with eBoostr ~ 7 Seconds

Dreamweaver CS3 without eBoostr ~ 11 Seconds
Dreamweaver CS3 with eBoostr ~ 4 Seconds

Adobe Reader without eBoostr ~ 8 Seconds
Adobe Reader with eBoostr ~ Less than 1 Second

Why Adobe?  Well there memory, CPU hungry applications.

This makes a huge difference, Keep up the good work!

Can’t Remove

By zlab95 | |

For testing I used 2 cache device:
1° PenDrive 6Gb (see by OS as HDD) with 1Gb cache allocated
2° SD Card 1Gb with 256Mb allocated

When I used only the second, to remove it no problem.
Using both drive the only way to remove the SD was: close the program, remove the device (physically), restart the program and finally remove the cache device.
