A question about caching and a suggestion for further betas

Hi,

This is the first time I used eboostr. I have setup my machine with a small USB flash cache of 512Mb. I plan to switch to a larger flash later, but that’s what I have right now. I have something more to report later. I also own several machine with different OS and config, so I’ll try them out on different machines later on.

I have been keeping an eye out for caching by looking at the USB flash’s activity LED. I played around with loading on Picasa, but it did not seemed to have cache the pictures. Perhaps this is not the way eboostr works or if it’s because I have a small cache?

For the next beta, it may be good to include last version’s help file in a read me. Right now, I can’t figure out how any of the features work (the view cache is obvious, but what is powersaver?)  and there’s no documentation online :-)

Question: does the beta only work for 4 hours at a time, too?

Thanks!

Paul

eBoostr caches any files that are frequently accessed, however Picasa AFAIK reads photo thumbnails from its own database, that’s why you do not see any cache activity (BTW you can monitor it in the eBoostr Control Panel. It’s easier than by the flash LED.)

Sure, we are currently finishing a detailed “Getting Started” guide and help file.

Beta version installs a license key (in case of a clean/first install) that is valid till January 1st. Please delete the “license.dat” file located in the installation folder and re-install Beta.
