Beta 3 Build 479 Errors Running Applications

By cc | January 13th, 2009 | 11:05 pm

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this. I had been running beta 3 build 479 for less than a week on my Compaq Presario desktop – 1GB memory, Windows XP Professional SP3, 1GB Coby Electronics memory stick (new). All of a sudden, applications stopped working today(Internet Explorer, Outlook, etc.). The computer was constantly throwing errors in svchost.exe. After uninstalling eBoostr and rebooting, the problems stopped. It’s like the eBoostr cache was somehow becoming corrupted. Any ideas? Anything I can look at or tweak on my end?

as that is an old beta, you should update to the new beta 484 and see if that fixes it, if not report what errors are on the new beta as it’s the one they’ll be working to fix for the next beta release.

If this problem persists, please save broken cache files. We will try to identify the problem.

Sorry, my bad, it actually was build 484. Since I had already uninstalled it, I didn’t have the exact build number handy.

It may be that the memory stick is cheap. I plugged it into my laptop w/Vista, and Vista said it was too slow for ReadyBoost. I’ll probably install beta 3 again and try a better memory stick. If the problem happens again, I’ll save the cache file.
