error installation

By KillerBoy | October 4th, 2007 | 4:12 am

I’ve installed the beta 2 on my old pc (PIII 450MHz, 64+128 MBRam) and I get an error in the beginning phase, but the installation goes away.

The Service isn’t installed so I’ve registered the file (eboostrsvc.exe) as service with srvintw and I’ve started it manually but, when I add a cache file it isn’t builded and in menu the “Stop/Restart caching” is disabled so cache aren’t filled.

Disabled menu options “Stop/Restart caching” means that the driver is either not installed or not working. So you’ve probably did not reboot after the installation.

BTW what was the text of the error message you’ve got during the installation?

exacly because after reboot there isn’t the service i’ve manually installed that with srvinstw (became from win sdk for installing applications as service)
the application is on and the service seems to be on but the caching don’t run…

i’ve tried to redo installation (first remove service and deinstalling) for seeing the error. you can see the error log down

i’ve not reboot immediatly (if that the error return) and i’ve redo installation over the first one, the error does not compare and, after reboot, the machine goes in an error loop… for accessing i’ve had to enter in provvisory mode and remove the application
note that with beta 1 i haven’t had all this problems, only, the first time, service not installed but after it goes normally

error was in xml type so editor have cutted

KillerBoy, our product installs not only the service, but a system driver also. The error you’ve received during the installation was a failed driver, that is why caching did not work.

Everything happened due to the fact that you did not reboot after the product uninstall (and our uninstall procedure did not ask you to, the bug will be fixed in BETA 3). You have to reboot in order for the new driver to be installed successfully.

I’ve posted an announcement about this:

yes, after uninstall and reboot the installation seems to go without problem

but there’s another problem (on the same pc)
I suspect is the cause I haven’t seen nothing in cache on this pc with the beta1 also
The installation goes correctly, it seems to install service and driver but naturally I must to restart for load the driver…
the machine goes in error and, for run xp, i need to load the latest good configuration so, when the SO is on the service and the driver are not installed yet and caching don’t go…
i suspect there’s an incompatiblity with some other component in the pc and i don’t know how understand what is
I can say the hardware but I don’t know if it’s useful
    P3 450Mhz

but i think this is unuseful
