ASUS A4K, mobile workstation: athlon Xp 3200+, hd IDE 80 gb, 2 gb ram kingston, usb 2.0, pendrive 4 gb transcend jfv30 usb 2.0, WinXP professional, Firefox internet browser

Favorite apps: graphics, CAD, CAS, office, games…

… installation: OK

…caching: OK

…running: OK

i have some questions: can i change the cache size of an installed cache device? Have i to delete the old cache device in the control panel, and then install a new and larger cache device?

how can i benchmark the eBoostr?

what if i forget connecting my usb pen when starting the Windows?

What if i set on the same usb pen the WinXP swap file?

What is an “eBoostr pen” ready? Is my pendrive ‘ready’ for eBoostr? :-)

at last: the suggested cache size is set by default to 256 mb. I’ve set it to 2048 mb (my ram size). How can i calculate the size of the cache? Does a method exist for a correct cache sizing?

running notes:

the second time i run an application or i open a folder, it runs very very faster then the first time.

Unfortunately no. Yes, you have to remove the cache and add it with a larger size. We have received this suggestion from many beta testers and will definitely add it to the next version. Most probably we will not manage to add this in our initial release.

We have two special tools to measure the performance. Please check this page for more info:

Absolutely not a problem. The system will boot and load without a problem. As soon as you connect the pen, eBoostr cache will be automatically enabled.

Hmm, don’t know really. I’ve saw somewhere on the net blog posts about placing the swap file on the USB drive. AFAIK that does not give a good boost. The data in the pagefile is frequently updated and flash drives are not as good in write speed. Our cache is updated only once per 5 hours and only on idle.

Any pen :) The only requirement (not really a requirement however, a suggestion) is USB 2.0 port version, not the USB 1.1

The more–the better, that is a simple calculation method :)
