I’ve been testing eBoostr 473 on my Dell Inspiron 530 for over a week now, and I’ve oticed that some of my games run more smoothly. I put eBoostr on an old notebook (and I do mean OLD… I think it was made in 2001). 700mHz processor and 256MB of RAM, WinXP SP3. Anyway, I primarily use this notebook when I deliver pizza’s. I’m in a new area, so I use MS Streets and Trips if I get lost. The program is probably too large for my notebook to handle, but it does run.
I have noticed a slight improvement with the app’s performace. It seems to take awhile before eBoostr realizes what I’m trying to do, but it eventually adapts. My problem, is I’ve noticed that my cursor hangs, sometimes for ten minutes or more. I’m not sure if my Touchpad (Synaptic driver) is going bad, or it’s a problem with the app itself. I’m thinking of temporarily uninstalling eBoostr, to see if this is the problem.
As a side note, I’m using a Lexar Mercury (reads around 14,000) allocated w/1GB to the cache. I’ve also configured 64MB of RAM to the eBoostr RAM drive. I will go so far as to say that I haven’t used this notebook much in the past two years, and it could just need a good re-fromatting of the drive. Will try some basic maintenance and see if this helps. I have defragged the drive (using Diskeeper 2009 trialware), and I know it takes awhile to get the hard disk optimized.
If I do this, I’m thinking of installing Win2000Pro SP4 on the notebook (seems to run better). Will eBoostr support 2000?

After exciting discovery that eBoostr’s working well after hibernation, I test the stability with standby, the first time is ok, however here comes the bad news, explorer.exe is missing after the 3rd time of standby. My system is winXP, ram 2gb, using SD card of 4GB as cache of eBoostr.

I just install the eboostr on my notebook computer and assign 900m of Ramdisk for the eboostr (I have 4G of ram and 3G can be used under vista, so I install Ramdisk on remainded).
I have to assign the Ramdisk as cache for eboostr after every reboot. If I assign system memory as cache, eboostr can load up the cache after reboot.

I just installed it an hour ago. My Lattude D500 usually need 4 minutes to start up. But it only need 1.5 minute with eboostr.
I noticed that it only set priority of the applications that have shortcuts on start menu. It’s better allow select a program by full path.

Hello,
I have a Dual boot XP SP3 and Vista SP1. First I have installed eboostr on the XP (Main) 473 I use 380Mb Ram, and 2 USB memories 4 Gb, 1 of these USB’s is also knowned is Vista for Ready Boost. Works well.
Having good results I decided to install eBoostr on the Vista for testing… First surprise It shows
1/ a Ram icon
2/ my 2 USB Memories icons
3/ an other Ram icon… all inactive. —-> this is the XP configuration with 2x the Ram ??
I changed the configuration to only have a Ram and test goes on , all seams OK.
I reboot in XP and my eboostr cofiguration is now the same as the Vista …only Ram.
How is the information available in the 2 OS?
What is the solution?
Thanks in advance
Emile

Hi,
I found out that the Application Priority does not show all applications. Currently the following are not shown on my system:
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition
- Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition
Thanks.

Version 473. Noted that the icon for eboostr is missing from the tray even when “click” to miminize to tray. Task Manager shows it still working though. Is there an option I need to click so that I see the icon?

Hi,
This is the first time I used eboostr. I have setup my machine with a small USB flash cache of 512Mb. I plan to switch to a larger flash later, but that’s what I have right now. I have something more to report later. I also own several machine with different OS and config, so I’ll try them out on different machines later on.
I have been keeping an eye out for caching by looking at the USB flash’s activity LED. I played around with loading on Picasa, but it did not seemed to have cache the pictures. Perhaps this is not the way eboostr works or if it’s because I have a small cache?
For the next beta, it may be good to include last version’s help file in a read me. Right now, I can’t figure out how any of the features work (the view cache is obvious, but what is powersaver?) and there’s no documentation online :-)
Question: does the beta only work for 4 hours at a time, too?
Thanks!
Paul

Now I use eboostr 3.0 build 465. When I press ‘check for updates’ , it says ‘no update available’,
But when I see your website there is build 473.
I use XP using latest patch (windows update automatically).
So far, version 465 is perfect. It works faster. And I found all my application works well.
As sugestion: Application priority (I test on build 465) only detect exe file which has been install on the computer. Some exe file which ‘no install required’ can not be included. It includes Portable application. Please add a dialog box, so we can include any EXE and DLL file.
