Build 471 does not solve the inability to detect RAM as cache device issue

By hkcivg | November 26th, 2008 |

Hello,

I posted the bug report about eBooStr not able to recognize availability of RAM in my system as an option of cache.

http://www.eboostr.com/closedbeta/feedback/eboostr-cannot-detect-my-ram-as-an-option-as-a-cache-device/

I tried build 471 and unfortunately the problem is not solved with this build.

I tried to install build 471 in two ways.

1. install build 471 over the existing build 469; and
2. uninstall eBooStr completely and then install build 471

In both cases, the problem remains there.

Please let me know if there are any other info you need to debug this case

thanks

filestat.dat?

1. What is it for, please?

2. How big will it grow? (Mine has about doubled to 2.8MB so far).

3. Can I move it to a location different from the default %AppData%\?

Build cache file on ramdisk

By Mukalus | |

In the purpose of using the unused 1GB memory on Vista 32bit from the installed 4G, I created a ramdisk and tried to build the eBoostr on it. Unfortunately, the bulid 471 didn’t allow and showed -4096MB free space available of -4096MB total. What a pity!

worried about security

i like the way eboostr works, I am using beta 3, 128 system memory and 1024 mb on my secondary harddisk

I looked at the eboostr.dat file @ 64 mb and the contents of the file is scarry, If im going to be using this app with a usb flash drive, what would a snooper gain from reading the contents of the usb thumb drive used by eboostr ?

If on the fly encryption is used for the eboostr.dat file i would feel much much safer using this program with a REMOVABLE usb thumb drive.

I hope this is looked at cause idenity theft is on the rise, I love eboostr but dislike the idea that my computer usage is kept on a usb thumb drive, just something to keep in mind.

Not any problems for the moment

BSOD

By Doug | November 25th, 2008 |

I experienced a BSOD but have not been able to send you the memory dump because the file is too large for my email server.  I’ve tried several different servers, same result.  Is there another way to send it to you?

check for updates?

By wayne | |

hi,

am using the beta v3 build 469.

tried a ‘check for updates’. it hangs on the ‘checking for updates’ progress bar screen.

have my firewall set to allow outbound tcp to http & https ports, and udp to dns.

outpost firewall security suite shows eboostrcp.exe trying to connect to 69.65.127.130 on port 80.

cancel button works.

otherwise, so far so good, seems to work a bit faster & the chosen apps for acceleration boost seem faster to load also. no errors or crashes yet.

my system is:

WinXp Pro SP3, P4E Prescot HT-3gHz,3 GB DDR400 ram,nVidia fx5200,Asrock p4v88 MB,
Firefox 3.0.5pre,Thunderbird 2.0.0.19pre,IE7 final 7.0.5730.11,
Belkin usb wireless 802.11g+MIMO adapter,Belkin WiFi G+MIMO adsl modem/FW/router,
Outpost SS 2009 v6.5, in-house IT Support Dept. consisting of two retired greyhounds.

“applications priority” empty

Using windows server 2008, not sure if normal

Also it didnt let me drag apps that were on the start menu itself, but it lets me with the ones on “All Programs”

It chose another Disk Drive automatically when I oppened for cache, which isnt the best i think. It even did  a “Build cache” automatically without me telling it to which again isnt the best and i didnt want to use that drive for cache anyway.

refresh button in the cache statistics

By Cosmin | |

the cache statistics is a nice addition. however it is clear it needs more work. it would be nice to have a refresh button and not have to open another instance again and again to get fresh statistics. it would be nice to see what files every app has cached. a expand/collapse style control would be nice to have and who will show the cache files for a certain app when clicked. please do not make me navigate to another page to see that! pretty please!
