For me it’s the first time eBoostr gives an error. Couldn’t install build 485, so I reverted to 484 that is working fine.
Windows NT6.0 (Build 6001) Service Pack 1 – 3071 MB – Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz
Beta 485, Windows XP SP 2:
It’s a minor issue, but could be improved:
Right now, the setup fails during installation of the service/driver if run under a limited user account. The setup should check up front for admin privileges and abort, if the user is not an admin.
i believe that a change log vould be a nice thing to have. the app as it is now has no change log ore none that i know of. it would be nice to have a page on the site to see what has been fixed/improved/added etc. i get notices that a new version is available for download, but i don’t have a clue about what the changes were made. a change log would maybe generate more usefull feedback from the users. a change log would also give a sense of progress of eboostr. you may work hard on it but the users cannot know if you don’t tell them. please share with us your progress.
Is there, or will there be, a 64-bit version of eBoostr for XP? Vista?
Okay, maybe the help file isn’t done yet, but what do the statistics represent? How is “weight” determined? What exactly does 100% or 50% or 5% cached mean? How is it calculated? Wouldn’t it be helpful to see how many times a file is hit? Or how about misses? Or attempts on files which are excluded? Is the cache/disk ratio bars representing total bytes? total files? What is the time-period of Overall cache/disk hit ratio? (Is it since last restart?) Anyway, I hope some details are shared so we can better understand whether eBoostr is helping the best that it can!
Just update on 485: acer 2920 xp pro notebook application crash, roll back to 473 working fine.
On the other hand i upgrade my fixed station amd phenom xp pro and there it’s very fine. Seems to be a problem on laptop somewhere
Just to update you re: build 485.
My system: P4 2.8 GHz, 512MB RAM.
Upgraded from build 484 and so far everything is working fine as far as I can tell. I’ll test it some more on this and my other machine and update later as necessary
tried to install version 485 3 times
each time I get an error message
saying unable to install and need to stop program sorry for inconvenience
revert back to version 484 which works fine
Have uninstalled the previous beta and after a reboot, installed build 485. Upon installation there was an ‘unable to update system tray’ error.
The ‘cache meter’ in the system tray still doesnt work – I’d expect it to open the eboostr control panel upon clicking it.
Restarted after install and selected applications for caching and ran into an immediate problem: the cache cannot be built. Once the cache building starts the eboostr service is terminated. Automatic caching does not work, as well.
I’m unable to test the software on other machines at this time – I’d like to know if it’s an SP3 specific issue or is manual configuration necessary.
