ADMINS! eBoostr is translated in Finnish only partly

By Crisse | |

Hello,

I noticed that eBoost is translated in Finnish almost completely, but there are couple of words/phrases that are still in English.

Please see this picture: http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/4010/eboostrfinnishsg7.jpg

As you can see from picture, in Options (Optiot in Finnish) menu the last choice is “Applications priority” which is definitely not Finnish. There should read:”Sovellusten tärkeysjärjestys”. “Sovellusten prioriteetti” would also be OK. Outside menu is seen “Systeemin tila” (System status), I would translate that “Järjestelmän tila”.

When that “Applications priority” is selected from Options-menu, appears an other Window saying “eBoostr: Control Panel” and “Searching for applications”, see picture: http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/3070/eboostrfinnish2xz0.jpg

There should read:”eBoostr: Ohjauspaneeli” and “Etsitään sovelluksia”.

And finally… after opening eBoost Control Panel, there reads almost everything in English (except two buttons), see picture: http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/8444/eboostrfinnish3oa8.jpg

There should read the following:

“Select applications to accelerate” is in Finnish:”Valitse kiihdytettävät sovellukset”.

“Accelerated applications” is in Finnish:”Kiihdytetyt sovellukset”.

“Applications found” is in Finnish:”Löydetyt sovellukset”.

Long text on the bottom of the Window (Drag-and-drop) the desired application….) is in Finnish: “Raahaa ja liitä haluttu sovellus kiihdytettyjen sovellusten listaan. Jos suosikkisovellustasi ei löytynyt,
niin voit yksinkertaisesti tiputtaa sovelluksesi pikakuvakkeen
haluamastasi sijainnista kiihdytettyjen sovellusten listaan”.

Last untranslated thing on eBoostr Control panel is “Save” which is “Tallenna” in Finnish.

I can also translate instructions of eBoostr in Finnish if needed.

Best regards
Christian S. from Finland

Eboostr Ram cache pages out

By moose | |

This is just an observation, but I have noticed that the ram cache seems to get aggressively paged out on my system. To illustrate the point. Eboostr with no ram cache on my system reports Page file usage as 486 MB. Adding a 512 MB ram cache takes the page file usage to 997 MB. So 511 MB appears to have gone straight back on to disk.

If the 512MB where to be pegged in ram, and not allowed to page out, performance should be substantially better. To illustrate the impact of paging on performance I attempted the following tests.
1. Using Alacrity PC starting a game, allowing it to load and then exiting immediately.
– First with eboostr disabled
– Second with Alacrity PC set to force programs in memory to swap to disk
– Third with the force to swap option turned off.
– Finally I have included the time for 2x2GB flash disks

Note that the game (simulator) in question has a significant start up time, partly bound by disk but also by processor.

2. Results

Test 1. Basic load – eboostr off
11:39:20 Monitored program(s) have stopped
11:37:58 Starting auto start program
00:01:22 Duration

Test 2. Eboostr Ram cache 1632MB filled to 96% – Memory optimized = forced to swap
12:26:50 Monitored program(s) have stopped
12:24:29 Starting auto start program
00:02:21 Duration

Test 3. Eboostr Ram cache 1632MB filled to 96% – Memory not optimized = not forced to swap
12:34:57 Monitored program(s) have stopped
12:32:52 Starting auto start program
00:02:05 Duration

Test 4. Eboostr No Ram cache, 2x2GB UFD 56% – Memory not optimized = not forced to swap
13:30:53 Monitored program(s) have stopped
13:28:43 Starting auto start program
00:02:10 Duration

3. Conclusion and thoughts

– The ram cache is fastest in this basic test provided it has not been forced to swap to page file.
– If ram cache is forced to swap, performance was pretty much what one would expect for a start without eboostr.

Add Intel Turbo Memory to eBoostr

By E1000 | |

I added the Intel Turbo Memory (onboard) to eBoostr and the performance it’s stunning :-)

700 MB write: 31 MB/s

700 MB read with eBoostr: 152 MB/s

700 MB read without eBoostr: 28 MB/s

How to add:

Leave ReadyBoost in de Intel Turbo Memory Console switchted on otherwise you loose the device.

Go to de Vista disk manager and delete the partition (there is no driveletter attached and about 1.4 GB for a 2 GB module). After that create a new fat32 partition on it (quick format) and assign a driveletter (eq. T for Turbo)

In eBoostr it shows up as drive T

When you don’t touch the device and it’s partition, it shows up as NVCACHE but there is no space to use because ReadyBoost has allocated all available space.

Language Bugs in V3.0 Build 483

By Senthil | |

Hello,

Changing the Language of the eboostr Control Panel, doesn’t change all the Menus.

Some of them are :

1)  Most of the Language changes doesn’t change the Menu Item ‘Application Priority…’.   For eg., change the language to ‘Francais’ or ‘hrvatski’, but still the ‘Application Priority…’ Menu item doesn’t change the language.

2)  Change language to ‘Make*****’ Language and still all the Menu items remain in English Language only.

The Language Change needs to checked for all Languages and fixed

Thanks.

By perth1415 | |

Hi,

As the title says it, I was wondering which of the two would give me more mileage? and, why?

Sorry if this’s a wrong place to ask such queries.
