Slow Cache Memory Speed

Just repaired a problem with cache memory. I am using a SanDisk 1GB SD3 card in a Compaq nc6120. Here’s the chronology;

1) Formatted 1GB card as FAT32, installed build 483. Random read speed was around 7 Mb / Sec. Tested for about three weeks.

2)Installed build 490. Removed device, re-added, allocated, built cache. Got warning about slow speed (122 Kb/Sec).

3) Removed device from eBoostr, had Windows do a repair with fix sectors and fix file system checked.

4) Added device to eBoostr, same speed problem.

5) Installed build 491, the rolled back to483, same speed problem.

6)Reformatted SD drive. Speeds back up to 7+ Mb/Sec.

7)Reinstalled build 491. Speeds OK

My question is, why is the reformat necessary? It looks like something on the SD card got corrupted that a disk repair couldn’t fix. From now on, I will go through a complete deinstall device / reformat device / upgrade eBoostr / reinstall device.

    Hard to say why it happen. Our QA never had such situations. During speed check, random parts of cache file are read by up level windows api – so there is no any magic here.     I am using build 491 on Windows 7. The speed is ok in the beginning. After I try to rebuild the cache… the speed decreases. When I reformat the flush disks and rebuild the cache again …the speed increased.
    

    There is also a possible conflict with readyboost.I used to have random crashes blaming readyboost. Everything is normal when readyboost is switched of.
