Unable to Clean up Cache – Win2000

By BEParkerVA | April 12th, 2008 |

I am running RC416 on a Win2000 machine and I discovered when I was trying to clean up the cache and over half the cache files have no names, so I can’t tell where they came from and I can exclude them if I wanted to.

Also, the font used in the listing fror the cache is cut off at the bottom like it it too big for the space allowed.

A few bugs and doubts

By dexter | April 5th, 2008 |

1) Removable drives are always being shown as “(Inactive)”, and the overall cache/disk hit ratio remains at 0% too. Tried with different removable drives and ports, but to no effect.

2) Edit -> “Stop caching” menu item doesn’t grey out or change to “Start caching” when clicked. Also, both the caching menu items remain enabled even if there are no cache devices present.

3)  “Random read speed:” never displays anything. Am I missing something here? I ran “Check speed” and eBoostrMeasure.exe but it never showed me anything

4) “Power save mode” menu item is checked by default even if eBoostr is installed on a Desktop computer. Shouldn’t eBoostr check if for a portable computer first before enabling that menu item?

Can’t properly test

By kyapjoco | April 3rd, 2008 |

I installed the release candidate. However, I can only have free ugprades till April 1 and can only test it for a few hours. I just upgraded to 2GB of RAM and I’m dying to test the RAM cache feature. ;)

[Suggestions] Improving Exclude List and more…

By dexter | |

The Excluded List was a much needed feature, so kudos on implementing it!

However, it could do with some refining:

1) A default, basic list could be included containing the filetypes and locations most people would want to exlude, such as:

%windir%\$NtUninstall* ,  %windir%\pchealth, %windir%\inf, %windir%\repair, %windir%\Help, %windir%\Installer, %windir%\SoftwareDistribution, %windir%\Temp, %tmp%, %windir%\Driver Cache, %windir%\system32\dllcache, %windir%\servicepackfiles, drivers.cab, sp2.cab, *.msi, *.rar, *.avi, *.mpeg

2) An Include List would be a nice addition too. Some people (like myself) only want boosting for specific apps such as Photoshop. So instead of manually excluding the whole computer, it’d be easier to have a whitelist too.

3) Option to import/export the Include/Exclude Lists

Stalled at Building Cache (100%)…

By fastest963 | April 2nd, 2008 |

build 415:I allocated the file on my drive and started the build cache, it was taking long on my almost 3.5gb file, so I just left it to run overnight.  I wake up in the morning and its still building!, its on Building Cache (100%)…

I tried “Stop Build Cache” and then resumed, eBoostr started working normally as if built has finished and the build was stopped.

I assume that this is not supposed to happen and that the build is stuck on one of the last steps on the build cache process.

build 416: Same thing however it’s only been 15 minutes on Building Cache (100%)…, I will leave it another 10-15 minutes and then try the above fix for 415, if the solution above doesnt work or it finishes, I will repost, otherwise assume that it didnt finish on its own and that the above solution worked.

Thanks,

Jimmy

PS: I posted a screenshot below(build 416), however I don’t think it will help.

From V. 2.0 to V. 2.0 build 416

By artamir | April 1st, 2008 |

I’m testing the v. 2.0 since it was released. Never had any kind of problems, the system speed seems not to have been significantly increased. Sometimes eBoostr turns to yellow and start to rebuild the cache. It happens any time i leave the PC for some minute or more. When I come back to the PC I have to wait for some seconds to have eBoostr on green, and then i can use the PC. However it never crashed the system, and any kind of trouble never happened. Now i start using the build 416.

Build 416

An updated build 416 with a critical error fixed was just released. If you are using/testing the cache in RAM option, please upgrade as soon as possible.

Release candidate version 2.0

By Andrey Zarudnev | March 28th, 2008 |

New build 415 is now available for download. This is the latest beta build and it is considered our Release Candidate.

Our developers were really not impressed by the results of the RAM cache boost in the previous build. So the RAM cache mechanism was totally rewritten in the current version. Its initial build, updates and load on boot are now much faster and smoother. In addition the application speed measure tool was also significantly changed to get more accurate results.

Here is the list of the updates at a glance:

  • RAM caching mechanism improved;
  • Application speed measure tool improved;
  • Bug with a fragmented cache file fixed;
  • Two new languages were added: Belarusian and Japanese (that is 15 new languages for the version 2);

Unfortunately still no Vista 64 bit support, sorry.

If there will be no critical errors found then the new version 2.0 will be released officially on April 10th.

Delayed Windows Write Errors

By BEParkerVA | March 21st, 2008 |

I get a lot of delayed Windows Write Errors for the file eboostr.dat with the beta version.  It seems to be happening more often than it was with v1.1.  Where is this file written and what info can I give you to help me solve it?

Crash report

By ElectryAngel | March 19th, 2008 |

Program chrashed after I pluged in mp3 player (Creative ZEN V)

After this everything stopped. Nothing worked. I needed to restart pc. After reboot eBoostr started but not loaded any device. I tried to push add button, but eBoostr didnt find any device.(mp3 player was pluged-in) it is unable to add any device until mp3 is pluged in. I restarted pc second time and now unpluged mp3 player. Everything worked propertly.

Tried to plug in second time and again the same history.

Then tried to close eboostr and plug-in mp3 player. Everything worked.

I think this problem is connected with eBoostr and it need to be solved.
