i’m using utorrent at home a lot with lots of torrents active (don’t tell anyone). i noticed at work that eboostr icon turns yellow from time to time and in that time it starts rebuilding it’s cache. well… it only stops to do that only at work where i do not use utorrent. at home however it does not stop to refresh it’s cache. it works in the background but does not refresh the cache. how is the cache refresh mechanism supposes to work? from wta i noticed it tries to refresh the cache only when there is little or no io activity. if that is true then it’s not good.
let me explain why. first started to use eboostr because i’m a .net programmer and i noticed that visual studio thrashes the hdd a lot when oppening a project or when it compiles. eboostr (2.0) seemed to be a noticeable improvement. all is nice until i use utorrent which seems to make utorrent quit it’s cache refreshing habbit and makes visual studio start thrasing around again. any thoughts in this area?

What’s the criteria of the drive which can be selected in the “Add cache device” window? I have several partitions but eBoostr 3 only shows one of them even though other partitions which are both faster and have larger free space are available

Just wonder, if eBoostr can work with a drive with its NoDrives registry set?
I would like to remove the drive used for eBoostr alone from appearing in Explorer if possible.
Thanks in advance! : )

figured out what the problem was with the usb device. When formatting the usb device it seems to take a long time allocating cache file. Going into device manager the usb device was set for quick removal and not optimal performance. However once changing that I was able to format the drive using the ntfs system. Once doing that I chose the device from control panel and when it was allocating the cache file no problems.

Not sure why but 469 seems to have more problems since I first started the beta testing. Actually uninstalled it from the system and put the second beta program back on. If using just system ram I have a lot of access violation errors popping up. Some of the programs are dvd shrink 3.0 , vso divxtodvd, Imgburn, etc. also when installing a new flash drive it says allocating cache file but stops and does nothing unless I unplug it from the system.

A problem that starts suddenly (for sure not in the former beta-version) with the current build 469 is the activity of eBoostr. Having System RAM enabled for eBoostr the eBoostr Control Panel and also the systray icon shows activity all the time between about 1/3rd and 2/3rd and is pulsing. Going up and down in about a second and goes on and on.
I am using a AthlonXP with 1,5GB DDR1-Ram on a PC-Chips M848ALU motherboard with Windows XP-Professional SP3

Hi,
I used a SD Card on my laptop for cache. My card reader will hide itself if no card is inserted (some card readers function like a DVD drive where it is still there when the card is removed).
The screenshot below shows the normal operating view on my system.

When I remove the SD card, the control panel show as below (which is normal)

Then I inserted other SD card (which is not used for caching) and the view does not change. The control panel is still operating correctly. Now, when I remove the 2nd SD card and reinsert the one with cache enabled, the control panel shows as below,

Hello,
Just installed version 3.0 built 469
After installation, eBooStr cannot detect my RAM and offer it as an option as cache device in control panel. I can only choose from harddisk or my flashdrive as cache device.
I used eBoostr version 2 before and i can choose RAM as cache device with no problem.
I use WinXP 2.2G Intel Core Duo CPU with 3G RAM installed.
Let me know if there are other info I could provide

Can only use my flash drive as cache

Only my harddisk shown in the menuCan only use my flash drive as cache

Hello, I have some suggestion which should be included in this nice application:
a) When using RAM cache, the program should monitor free RAM size and adjust cache size according to it.For example when there’s free less than 10% of RAM (could be settable), eBoost should decrease cache size (by flushing the less important information)
b) Optionally to a), there could be some option to set maximum and minimum cache size. eBoostr could behave in such way, when there’s a lot of free RAM, it will increase cache size.
c) File eBoostr.dat stored on HDD could be created in contiguous area to prevent fragmentation and improve IO performance.
Thank you very much.

Hello,
Please find some screenshot to show the problem

In the device a .log is present and contains :

This is also popup from time to time

This is my configuration

In between the Ding and the Dong made by Windows the J device is not present any more in eboostr window.
The speed ot the J device is NOT given

1 question do I need to “format” the j device?
Thanks in advance.
